Same! I really liked book one and I think this is just a duology so it'll be nice to get a series ticked off.

Hope you love it, Ta :) It got off to a slow start but was a solid read for me.

It started out slow, but it's building up pace which I think is good."
I found it quite initially slow too. It did do a good job of getting the reader up to date before introducing any new elements though.

I don't know who's side I'm on lol i love the boys but the trio are kind if heroes? Who do stupid shit but they're heroes 😂

I agree the book feels like it starts out a little late, i think it may have meant to be a book that can be read alone considering they tell almost everything that happened in the first book in only the first three or four chapters..

I think Isobel is trying to live up to her reputation without considering the consequences of her actions..

I think he's there to complicate Alistair and Isobel's relationship 😂😂

I think many authors are conscious that some won't reread a book before a subsequent story is released and are more attuned to trying to give a bit of a summary.

I feel a love triangle coming? This is so dark and I'm so confused"
I'm more intrigued to see how the split groupings dynamic affects events.
I agree with all of you that they did a good job of recaping the previous book. I just reread it to remind myself of everything that happened so its all fresh but i liked that the author recapped while giving new info

I totally agree. I usually like when authors do theae but it did feel a bit too lengthy here.

Yea i liked it too

About damn timeeee I've been waiting for those two to get there for like the entire book 🤣

Keeping the rest of my opinions for the review, but it definitely entertained."
It did entertain at times, but the pacing was frustrating.

Their interaction felt the most genuine. I really choked at that moment...

I agree for Briony it felt like her character was supposed to go there at some point, I do feel bad for her ex tho.. he kind of (view spoiler) but i admit that was a strong point fir the authors (view spoiler)
“I feel like I should warn you: this is going to be absolutely brutal.”
For the first time in this ancient, bloodstained story, the tournament is breaking. The boundaries between the city of Ilvernath and the arena have fallen. Reporters swarm the historic battlegrounds. A dead boy now lives again. And a new champion has entered the fray, one who seeks to break the curse for good... no matter how many lives are sacrificed in the process.
As the curse teeters closer and closer to collapse, the surviving champions each face a choice: dismantle the tournament piece by piece, or fight to the death as this story was always intended.
Long-held alliances will be severed. Hearts will break. Lives will end. Because a tale as wicked as this one was never destined for happily ever after.
