West pulls away from the relationship because he believes he’s not worthy of being not only Phoebe’s husband but the father of her children. Which of his many arguments may have had merit? Why was Sebastian so supportive of him marrying Phoebe?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments Phoebe is strong enough to weather any negative comments about her and West. Depending on where they send the boys to school, they may need to deal with some bullying, but Justin is already a strong, proud boy. He admires West and could handle anything another child would say to him.

Sebastian knows from personal experience that most people forget all the foolish things men do in the past.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments None of West's arguments had any real merit. West and Sebastian were a lot alike. Both were rakes who had made bad mistakes and errors in judgment, but both turned their lives around and turned out to be great men. With her family and the Ravenel's support they could take on any gossip.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments West is probably right in that they'll probably get lots of stories about his behavior in the future which could lead to problems for Pheobe or the boys. But it isn't something that they couldn't overcome. Sebastian knew this. He liked West and thought he was good for Phoebe and his grandsons.

Justin may be Henry’s son but he’s more St. Vincent than Larson. And, with West as a father? This kid is going to be fearless.

I can see West concerns about bringing issues down on Phoebe’s children but agree with Robin that these are not insurmountable problems. And, Phoebe’s a smart, strong woman and can handle herself. Frankly, she’ll get more shame about Edward than she will with West.

Sebastian sees himself in West and bonded with him right off. He never thought Henry was right for Phoebe but understood they loved each other. He would definitely have intervened if she’d moved forward with Edward. Ugh.
