trying to look for this because it’s been annoying me since i couldn’t remember what the title was. great help if anyone could find it. i think the cover had a cliff on it

Ready or Not by Tracy Darnton? The cover doesn't match, though. Was it out on a display table in Waterstones? If so, it might be a fairly recent book, and I'd hazard a guess at the author being from the UK given the setting - it might be worth browsing the UKYA in 2022, UKYA in 2021 etc. lists to see if you recognise it.
