Read this book around 2007. Think the boy was orphaned and the people around him are also superheroes. Possibly ends with the heroes ending up on an island or going on a vacation leading into the second book.

I think I know this book. I would have read it around the same time. I actually remember quite a lot about it, except, maddeningly, not the title or author. It's kind of a relief to see anyone else who is looking for it, because it means I didn't make it up in my head.

The main character is a kid who wears a television set on his head like a helmet and is a superhero. He lives with, I think, his grandma. At some point in the book, he starts a group of other superheroes with kind of lame powers. One of them looks the part, but has the personality of a lazy beach bum. Another is literally just a flying rock.

I also remember a scene where a character thinks a robot is real, and falls in love with it. The hero says something along the lines of "How could you not tell he was fake? His eyes were lightbulbs!"
The first character replies "They were such dreamy lightbulbs!"

I also also remember a bit where the hero explains how he was found as a doorstop baby literally glued to the television.

Hopefully that's the book Paris is looking for too. If not, Hybrids by David Thorpe has someone whose head merges / fuses with a TV.
