Janeylou | 1134 comments Hope you had a great time Trio 😊

Janeylou | 1134 comments Amanda, ive looked at ingredients and tbh theres too many to put all on a SS .
So was just thinking if we do a basic Name...Book title ...any food/drink related items

If you go on big bang SS player 6 ive used blank Tab to show you what i mean ..have a look and see what you think

message 57: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments I also think the amount of rules and instructions are making us all go a bit 😳😳😳

So i think we should go with the flow and enjoy the challenge, work along with our other challenges and if we miss points here and there , so be it . And if none of our customers like our wholesome food then thats their problem , not ours 😄😄😄

message 58: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten | 573 comments Exactly. We did well and had fun with Batter Up! and I’m loving Scavenger Hunt. If I focus on reading books I want to read with my eye on the challenge, then I’m happy.

message 59: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Amanda, we are going to need some book titles with 'vinegar' in them please 😊

message 60: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten | 573 comments There’s a brilliant play, Vinegar Tom, I’d love to reread.

message 61: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 696 comments TITLE?! Lol I don't think I know of any, I'd probably just do a search on here.

And I'll check out the spreadsheet this weekend at some point to try to get something worked out

Sorry, i worded that wrong 😄😄😄
I meant vinegar in the book text , not title

message 63: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 696 comments Oh that I can search for! I'll make sure to get it done before we start (september right?)

message 64: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 696 comments Okay, I set up a super simple tab on the spreadsheet called Book tracking, does that work?

Would it be possible to have each food item in a seperate box , then we could put the pg # next to it as well ( so no re-checking when put it on main SS ) and im envisioning noting in each box what meal it works for .

If too much trouble , dont worry

Amanda , ive just changed names on top ...what you think

message 68: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 696 comments I think that looks good. We can also play around with it more when we start so we can figure out what exactly we need.

message 69: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Great , im at the cottage wed & thurs so going to go through rules again and post a few notes

message 72: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Some items can only be found in 500 pg + books ...so will see if i can find 1 i fancy reading

message 73: by Janeylou (new)

message 80: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Hi girls , i think i know what im doing for this ( at least until it comes to adding to the SS )
Amanda has added a tab on SS to keep check of our books , ive filled it in for my long book so you can see and if you put your pg # next to item it saves going back to check it when we transfer to main SS

Ive put basic instructions on main page and got rid of a lot of ingredient info so it looks easier ( i think we can work out what to put on sandwiches)

Im not sure we'll be reading many 500pg + books so if you do read one its going to be best just to use that for drinks/ cocktails/ desserts as they cant be found anywhere else ....and these kids today like to drink 😄😄

message 81: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments From what i can make out , certain items can be made with different amount of items
The more items we use in the dish the more points we get and the tastier it will be and sell more 🤞🤞

I was thinking we could do a selection of gluten free/ dairy free meals ( am i overthinking this ) , so if you see any of those ingredients make a note
Flavoured teas/ coffees may be nice as well

message 82: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Im watching masterchef at moment, trying to get some ideas

Note to self ...look for herbs !!

message 83: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten | 573 comments Hey -- I've just added a shelf of possible books for the challenge that were already in my queue. Take a look: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Read Mother Parker which has a lot of bubble teas ... might be nice for kids

message 85: by Claudia (new)

Claudia | 103 comments Alsi, i looked through the spreadsheet and the last tab for books is great. I think I understood it now ... at least a bit better than before .... hopefully ...

So we are looking for food and drinks in books, like in the scavenger hunt, only that we are responsible for finding things right?

Can we use more than one thing from one book or eg for each category something from one book?

message 86: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Thats great Claudia, will put on my list...nee author for me as well

message 87: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Yes its a bit like SH
if we find coffee in the book 6 times we can use it 6 times as long as its in a different place .
Certain words are going to be easy to find ( coffee) so im planning on using them for my fantasy/ pnr books which dont always have lots of food in them .
We can use spell outs as well, but personally i think im going to get confused if i do both so going to concentrate on hunt items.

message 88: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten | 573 comments I’m thinking that book tab is great for simply marking stuff we find. This is going to be fun! I love hunting.

message 89: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments It does help that we all read similar books so if one of finds something fancy we can all read for it .
Some challenges it doesnt matter who reads what, but others ( like this ) , its definitely an advantage

message 90: by Claudia (new)

Claudia | 103 comments It definitely sounds like fun .... thanks again for inviting me 😊

So it is ok, when we all read the same book?

message 91: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Claudia wrote: "It definitely sounds like fun .... thanks again for inviting me 😊

Yes its fine , we just have to make sure we put our name after book on main SS if there are any duplicates

message 92: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 1134 comments Our monthly speacial for sept is
❤️MONTHLY SPECIAL ❤️. For Month 1, this is a fresh item which much be used in the month created.
🔹️ Fijian Chicken Curry (chicken, spice(s) (generic term or a specific type), tomato, coconut milk, chutney, roti, chilli, rice. Must contain chicken, spice(s) and rice. This dish has a minimum of 6 and maximum of 8 items

This is worth a massive 80 points so we need to keep an eye out for these.
We may need Amandas skills for this one

Kirsten | 573 comments Hooboy! So we're looking for books with South Asian settings and characters.

It'll be interesting to see if spell-it-out helps. Can we do a combination of the 2?

And, Claudia, your final SH book has a chef--if you keep an eye on the food items, the rest of us could read it!

The meal can have a combination of hunt items and spellout , but each book can only be used for one or the other
