The series has now shifted from the SEAL Teams to Tom’s new security consulting firm, Troubleshooters. We’re introduced to all new characters in this story, coming from a myriad of backgrounds. Was it hard getting into the story or were you immediately engaged?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I had no problem getting into this story with the new characters. They are so well developed, I felt like I already knew them.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments I didn't have a problem. I was anxious to see what was going to happen this time.

I dreaded rereading this one because I remembered how much I struggled the first time. But! I was hooked quickly and had to reflect on what didn’t work the last time.

I believe I was unprepared for the series pivot to Troubleshooters. I kept looking for my old characters and past connections so maybe I wasn’t really into the story as I was just trying to get to the parts involving the Team.

And, listening to the series made quite a difference.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1811 comments I quickly became engaged with the new cast of characters.

@Jonetta - For me it helped that I was aware in advance that the focus would not be on SEAL Team 16.

Lauren, it made a big difference the second time around. I wasn’t on Goodreads when I first read this series. In fact, I discovered Goodreads because of this series. There was a link to Shelfari and then I discovered Goodreads a couple of months later.

Goodreads (and Shelfari in the past) make it so much easier to be forewarned about these things.

I don’t know how I managed without it.

I read a lot of books out of order, lol!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I had no problem shifting to the new characters. It was interesting seeing the team function without both government aid or the restrictions. But I remembered reading this before and being uncomfortable with some parts. Those situations didn't bother me as much as the first time.
