Shopaholic to the Rescue by Sophie Kinsella 3+ stars but there is a 5 star scene in it

Oh, happy day! We're finally seeing some character growth for Becky :)! Okay, actually, we see more of that in the next book than this one but I am quite behind in my reviews--this is one of six sitting here waiting for me to get a round to it.

This one really ought to be read after book 7 since it is an immediate sequel, although all of the ones after the first are sequels.

Although they were somewhat on the outs in the last book Suze really wants Becky to go along as she searches for Tarkie, who has gone off with a questionable character they are certain is brainwashing him. They're also looking for Becky's dad, since her mother has flown over from England along with her best friend and neighbour to track him down. Everyone, including Luke, Minnie and the nefarious Alicia Bitch Long-Legs (who has managed to convince Suze she's wonderful now) are all crammed together in a camper as they travel from California to Nevada.

There are some fun new characters along with a couple of twists and turns. There was one scene in the latter part of the book that was one of the funniest Kinsella has written (for me) but overall it wasn't the funniest book in the lot. Please do not read the spoiler if you haven't read the book because it will spoil the entire set up for you. I am including it for those who have already read the book but are reading this (it happens :) ) (view spoiler)[the sting that Becky set up that was a play on the Ocean's Eleven was a lot of fun with some good laughs--I haven't seen Ocean's Eleven, but have seen films and read books with elaborate stings like this. This made the book for me, but overall one scene like this didn't bring the rating up. But 3 stars is a like (hide spoiler)]
