Great! I am excited to read this one as the reviews say it is quite good.

Was not intentional on my part, but now as I am reading The Engine House I realise that like Salt Lane there is a mother-daughter dynamic as part of the story. Evan Warlow is the main protagonist however Allanby and her teen daughter are prominent here.
I started early and have just finished. The dynamic changes somewhat in the last 50 or so pages. The writing is good, and I will certainly read more in this series.
And the author admits that the Engine House does not exist even though other locations do. He 'nicked' it from Cornwall.
I finished this one and I like a lot about it, just I felt that some characters where a bit shallowly drawn and the story had a bit of choppy flow to it. Overall I liked the setting and the lead character quite a bit.
