I'm not sure where it's appropriate to put this, but I've been having a hard time with the pronunciation of the Norse words so I looked them up. This guy does YouTube videos pronouncing a bunch of words you may or may not come across reading this book. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd...
About 30% in and so far it just feels weird. Some hints on bigger things to happen, but I can't se how everything fits yet. But this book made me want to finally read Gaiman's Norse Mythology that's been waiting on my Audible shelf for ages )))
Thanks to being quarantined for covid, I am 72% in. I felt like the beginning was trying to cover a lot of backstory very quickly. But, eventually, it starts slowing down and developing more naturally.
Initially liked it but got fed up with how he behaves and how she tolerates it - put it down to read a new book that arrived and am not yet motivated to go back to it. I think I'll read the spoilers thread to see if I want to continue.
One third in and I think I see how this is going. Funny, I tried Gaiman’s Norse book when it came out and couldn’t get into it. I’m surprised I’m so into this book.
Started this today as I went for a brief walk after work. I’m enjoying it so far, though I’m only 9% in.
I'm getting pretty irritated with Loki. Not too far into the story, but she really needs to ditch him! I'm wondering how their relationship will end up.
I've barely started it, just about 30 pages in. I like the whole thing where Angrboda is a lone woman in the woods, and various folks (just two so far) come to see her. Reminds me a bit of the middle of Daughter of the Forest. I also appreciate that the seat of the gods (Aesir? Asgard? I'm sorry, I'm a total noob when it comes to Norse mythology) and the other big-picture mythology (including Loki's activities/antics) is dealt with "off screen" after the first couple of pages. Not sure where this is going, but I'm interested. Could do without extremely contemporary quips like "Wait, what?" though.

“Fine.” He flopped down on the bed. “I’m hungry.”
Beth, I also thought of Daughter of the Forest.
I'm 12% in and not very interested. I'll keep going though.
