Gem Larkspur (gemsl) | 9 comments Hi everyone,

Yet another website has sprung up offering 'free downloads' of e-books that the authors' are not offering for 'free.' My novel showed up on Yaksmedia and I had a brief moment of panic since it showed 612 'downloads.' An attempt to read online or download took me to a sign-in page with a request for credit card information. *1st sign of a scam*

'ScamAdvisor' gave the site a Suspicious Rating. *2nd sign of a scam*

I took a closer look. The scam listing also showed 41 reviews with an average of 5-stars. *sure sign of a scam right there*

I checked another listing and guess what - same commentary with the Cover and when I clicked through the cover - guess what. Same exact display and stats.

So my reader friends and authors - stay away from Yaksmedia. The site looks good but you can bet they are up to no good with your credit card info.

Cease and desist email? Even though I know they don't have my novel, I'd love to get the cover pulled from their scam site.

Groovy Lee Is it yaksmedia.com? I went to that website and you can't get in unless you're a member, if I have the correct one.

How do you know if your book is on there without having to sign up?

Thanks!

Davida Chazan (chocolatelady) | 94 comments If they are located in the USA you can complain to the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General of that state.

Jacqueline Smith | 21 comments These people somehow gained access to my books and are offering them as free downloads/reading online. They do not have my permission to do this and I have contacted them about this. Never knew I could feel so violated or pissed off.
