Well she did clearly say they'd had several complaints re that. As GY pointed out it was actually due to their charitable status which does say they should focus on reading in UK

Stewart pointed out on Twitter than at least one publisher has jumped the gun and congratulated their author for getting on the shortlist.

There should be a roving gang of authors who've missed out on the prize... Maybe led by Ali Smith?
