Julie (juicelina) | 21 comments Hello! I read a lot of webtoons/webcomics and I have noticed that most of them are under author NOT A BOOK. I read the guidelines on what moves titles to this category, but I still don't understand why some of these titles have been moved there. What makes these webcomics different from manga or graphic novels other than having physical publications. Some titles that do have physical publications with ISBNs are also under not a book. I'm just a little confused.

Thank you!

What is the definition of a book?

Pulse is labeled as not a book, but it recently received an English publication and will be printed as a physical book. Killing Stalking used to be "cartoons spread across a website" but now it's a physical book in multiple languages. Under the Green Light is labeled as not a book, but there are physical copies available in Korean. There are plenty of webcomics that have been printed into physical books. And even if they don't have physical copies. What makes them different than digital only novels?

If coloring books, calendars, short stories published online, and completed book-length fan fiction are considered books, why not webcomics?

Those policies are not something that librarians have insight into or influence on. You can contact Goodreads here:
