Ethan knows that something is wrong. Why would Jenkyn waste a resource to follow him, unless Jenkyn didn't trust him. He has proof that Jenkyn is involved with Lord Tatham and his only defense against Jenkyn is that proof, but he doesn't know who to trust. They were both in danger, but I don't know how he would have convinced Garrett to leave her practice and hid.
That was the problem. Ethan didn’t have anyone but himself to turn to and it was too late to break off with Garrett. He would have needed to reach out to someone like Rhys, which is what I wish he’d done.
I thought he might request help from the Ravenels since they have some influence. And, as Jonetta mentioned, he had worked with Rhys Winterbourne before and trusted him. He could have asked for his help too.
The Ravenel's were his family, but he didn't want to accept them or their help at this time. Theis was his problem, and he was going to deal with it his way.
Yeah, he had no relationship with the Ravenels and didn’t trust them. But, he’d worked for Rhys before so he was an alternative. He really thought the conflict between Fred and Jenkyn was enough to inspire Fred to use it against a hated competitor. Unfortunately, that conflict was all theater.
I thought Ethan was cautious about reaching out to anyone but Fred. He didn't want to bring trouble to anyone else.
