I am trying to remember the name of a kids book series that was kind of spooky mystery similar to series of unfortunate events. I read it around 2012-2015. It’s 4-6th grade level reading. The main character is a girl and her best friend is a short hairy monster with long straight hair and all you see is his feet. Kind of similar to cousin It from the Adams family. The book covers were hard and similar looking to series of unfortunate events but each Hooke as a different color. I believe the first one was set in Norway. The books had some illustrations inside.

Sounds like the Ottoline series by Chris Riddell - her hairy friend is called Mr Munroe. The first book is Ottoline and the Yellow Cat.
