Thank you. I have added it to the spreadsheet.

I hope that your work becomes a joke in the best possible sense. ;)

Abigael | 416 comments New completion: Shouldn't you be in school? / Lemony Snicket. (All the wrong questions) August 6-7. Category 14 #69 The series title is printed on a gold sticker on the lower left of the front cover.

14#70. The main characters are not accepted by the residents of Trouble Island & they don't get along with each other well at first.

16#80. The local taxi service is operated by 2 children who are implied to be younger than 12.

Great! What task?

Is the alias one? If so, then what is this? " Who Could That Be at This Hour? (All the Wrong Questions #1) By Lemony Snicket"

message 104: by Abigael (last edited Aug 07, 2022 05:37AM) (new)

Abigael | 416 comments Updated last comment.

Suggestion: The book in 20#99 fits 19#95, so you could move that one and put a different book in 20#99 or we could leave it open for later because it's an easy task to fill? Also, you could claim Category 19 if you want, but no pressure.

message 105: by CraftyChara (last edited Aug 07, 2022 05:55AM) (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments I'll take Category 19. I have some books that will fit. :0)

OMG You're Right! I can't believe that I didn't see that! Great teamwork!

I came in like a wrecking ball!

CraftyChara | 443 comments I need help finding a book for Category 15 Task #74 "A book with a protagonist who doesn't believe in fairies who then has to work with fairies"

The only thing coming to my head is that direct to VHS Peter Pan 2 movie. Wendy's daughter Jane didn't believe in Faires, and it almost killed Tinker Bell!

message 107: by CraftyChara (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments Kadi P has posted a clarification:
Task 3: characters who don’t have a first name don’t count for this task but character nicknames do.
Example: Team members A reads Book A with a protagonist who is called Johanna but the nickname everyone calls her is Jo.
Any book read by another team member with a protagonist called Jo can count for this task.

Task 81: an automaton and robot are the same thing. Automaton is a more old fashioned term for what is essentially a robot.

Abigael | 416 comments August 6-7. (All the wrong questions) Why is this night different from all other nights? / Lemony Snicket.

This book didn't go at all as I suspected. I am shook & sad. I don't know which category it should go in right now. I suppose 3#13 will do until I think of something better or someone else (maybe) reads a Lemony Snicket book.

Abigael | 416 comments Chara: I think "Small persons with wings" MIGHT work - protagonist believes in fairies, gets bullied for it & trusts only "reality" and then must work with fairies. You may want to ask Kadi.

Abigael | 416 comments Anyone have any leads on a book with a Hanukiah on the cover? Having difficulty finding one I can access & read.

Anyone have any leads on characters named August (Wonder doesn't count because I usually avoid books that I know will make me sad.

I think it could be argued that at least 2 characters run away together (if there can only be 2 people running away "together", there's a pair of siblings & a pair of "sweethearts" [the book's word, not mine].) Still not willing to take Category 16 because I never promise to read horse books.

CraftyChara | 443 comments Thanks for the websites

Kadi said that it counts.

I have an ask friend to suggest a book with a Hanukiah on the cover. She said that she'll get back to me tomorrow.

Abigael | 416 comments Chara: if it counts for the challenge & fits a task, then yes, absolutely!

message 116: by CraftyChara (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments Abigael wrote: "Anyone got any protagonists called Chris/Christopher or Amy?"

Nope. Sorry. Could change in the future.

I've started Why Is This Night Different from All Other Nights? along with Horseradish. We get the book from the same series and author.

Abigael, what are you reading for the Amnesia?
Remember it must have a protagonist not being able to remember one or two things or not knowing their own backstory does NOT count. The memory loss must be long term and severe enough that it impacts the protagonist's understanding of their relationship to others, their own personality, or who they are. The protagonist can regain their memories at any point in time, but they must have amnesia at some point in the story.

message 117: by Abigael (new)

Abigael | 416 comments Hooray! I will have to shuffle a bit, but thank you for your help!

I don't have anything for amnesia right now. I was started at the bottom & working backwards when asking for suggestions & doing research.

message 118: by CraftyChara (last edited Aug 08, 2022 10:02AM) (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments I don't want to read Wonder either. A Small Zombie Problem Has a character named August. If you don't want to read this, then I will.

I read a book that had horse riding in it. Though I didn't count how many of them were riding at the same time. I had to re-order the book to confirm how many.

CraftyChara | 443 comments Abigael: Task 69 Read a Newberry award winner (gold sticker)
Do you have or are you planning to read this? Because I have two that for this.

Task 66: Do you have a book that has an animated adaptation. Movie or tv?

message 120: by Abigael (last edited Aug 08, 2022 11:22AM) (new)

Abigael | 416 comments My understanding of Task 69 was not that it was supposed to be an award winner, but I will look at it soon.

Task 66: I have a few different options in mind. I enjoy "middle grade" animated movies & T.V. so this will be an easy one.

New completion: August 8. (Can you solve the mystery? #4) The case of the mysterious dognapper & 9 other mysteries / [author uncertain, created by Lansky, original pseudonym M. Masters] 3#13 for now.

Update: Task guidance for 14#69 says nothing at all, much less anything about an award. I'd like to proceed as stated above with a ATWQ book for that task.

message 121: by CraftyChara (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments My understanding that the gold sticker means newberry winner. But there could be others I don't know.

Great job!

message 122: by Abigael (new)

Abigael | 416 comments As Kadi said, she is almost always quite pedantic. If she didn't clarify, I feel no reason to believe she meant a specific kind of sticker. If she did mean something specific, that is both out of character & confusing. Thank you for checking though.

My next 3 books are very long & might take more than 3 days to read & I'm worried my number of finished books will stop matching or being ahead of the date! *internal screaming because productivity & completionism!!*

You're doing fine. Read at your own pace. Team Zenobia is doing great.

You're right about Kadi. She just said gold sticker. My interpretation was of a Newberry winner.

Edit: The bigger the book the points that we'll get.

Abigael | 416 comments What constitutes a "military background"? Heather Vogel Frederick seems to have a military connection based on how she wrote the Pumpkin Falls series, but I can't find anything stating the nature of her connection - I did see something on a Goodreads page about her being a "military dependant" but that's not actually a clear description.

message 125: by Abigael (last edited Aug 08, 2022 12:47PM) (new)

Abigael | 416 comments I am hoping Charlotte & the other girl participate more, but if they don't end up finishing Category 6, I might like to do some. I noticed that you have your name down for #27 & I'm currently looking at 26 & 29 & 30. Part of my strategy is to read books for a super generic task "3+ clues" or "4+ trees" or whatever & then assign the books to obscure tasks while reading, and Category 6 is super generic (at least for what I read).

CraftyChara | 443 comments You can take #27 I just put down future ideas and books. Feel free to take.

Every 100 pages we get one point. 100=1, 200=2, 300=3 etc. Bigger the book more points we get.

Abigael | 416 comments Protagonist found a secret, anonymous note in a book. It's not addressed to her but she opened it & it's a major plot point to find out all about it. Do you think it counts for category 3#11?

message 131: by CraftyChara (last edited Aug 08, 2022 03:59PM) (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments 3#11 It does count!

2. If the pairs ran away separately at separate times, then yeah that counts.

Kadi answered:
For that task I had more like someone who had experience in the army etc in mind but I guess any link to the military will do, so a military dependent is fine. However, after reading the author’s biography on her website here: https://www.heathervogelfrederick.com... it doesn’t seem like there is any military connection. I tried looking on her goodreads page but I couldn’t find anything there either.

i suppose it could be for task #64.

Filli (aiiadhe) | 57 comments guys, anybody has a book recommendation, about task #62?

character that has no friend?
when a character had friends, but not anymore, is it count?

message 137: by Abigael (new)

Abigael | 416 comments I don't have anything off the top of my mind, but I do think that no friends anymore should count. Chara/Kadi should get back to you about this soon. If you're needing to read something immediately, let us know & I'll try to help.

message 138: by Filli (new)

Filli (aiiadhe) | 57 comments ahhh no no Abigael, no need to hurry :)
it's fine for me.
i can prepare another book for another prompt too hehe

message 139: by CraftyChara (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments Task #52 the underdog doesn’t have to physically fight anyone. It’s just the idea that he goes up against people and repeatedly loses until one time where he comes out victorious. So, the fighting can be verbal or metaphorical too.

task #62 character that has no friend?
when a character had friends, but not anymore, is it count? Kadi said it does count.

message 140: by CraftyChara (new)

CraftyChara | 443 comments For task 4 the recommended book read for that task must be the one next to the team member’s name, it can’t just be any book that they recommend. And that also means that technically someone could read their own recommendation to fulfil task 4!

Abigael | 416 comments August 8-9. (Pumpkin Falls Mystery #1) Absolutely Truly / Heather Vogel Frederick. 3#11 but it also fits for 3+ snowing scenes, so I may need to shift it.

August 9-10. (Pumpkin Falls Mystery #2) Yours, Truly / Heather Vogel Frederick. This book heavily focuses on the American Civil War, the Underground Railroad, & mid-1800s history, so I think it should definitely count for 5#24. It would also count for 14#68 because the protagonist is being an "angsty teenager" & in a verbal fight with each person in her family at one point or another in the story, but the book closes with reconciliation between everyone & she redeems herself in the eyes of her family.

Edit: actually, let's book Pumpkin Falls #2 in 14#68 so that I can be almost done with this Category.

Abigael | 416 comments What constitutes a parade? Does 37 people, all in matching t-shirts, walking down the street with half the town watching them count as a parade? The book keeps using this word, I think as a metaphor, but I wonder if it could actually count.
