SOLVED. involved torture and a crazy murderer [s]

The book was about a murderer and this girl whose friends got murdered(maybe friends family) and she hid from the guy, but eventually was found and he started torturing her. At one point she was tied to a chair for long periods of time. Eventually the girl escapes the crazy man though.
I also remember that it was a desert she drove through to get to the friends family house.
