YA Fantasy + Sci Fi, about young boy and a girl whose is poison (not Shatter Me). Read around 2018.

I'm looking for a book about a young guy, latino if I remember correctly, that lives in this neighborhood with a creepy house. One day he goes to the house and he meets this girl who lives there under the care of the owner of the house who is this crazy scientist reculse. The girl is like an experiment of the scientist, and she has this power to kill anything she touches, including herself so she releases her power into plants. The boy and girl continue seeing each other for the rest of the book and end of becoming really close but end up having to leave each other at the end (I think). I read the book roughly 4 years ago, in 2018 I think.

Do the plants kill people? Or does she kill the plants?

A Fierce and Subtle Poison by Samantha Mabry? Sounds like Mabry used Rappaccini's Daughter by Hawthorne as inspiration. The title "Fierce and Subtle Poison" is a direct reference to his short story.
