Vendaval (vndvl) | 17 comments I vaguely remember the cover having a house/mansion, in red. The author is most likely a woman, possibly a journalist. The plot is set to be a mystery, but it has a very smart writing, making it funny at times. This is an important feature. This makes it kid-friendly, it seems.
Since the style is very unique it's very hard to translate: the novel is written in English and there are no translations availables in any other language.

I saw it in Goodreads, so for sure it exist in this website.

I'm afraid is not, but thank you for mentioning it! I added it to my TBR list :)

Liliola | 6 comments It reminded me the book of Edgar Cantero Le monde caché d'Axton house. It's worth checking

Windy, is this book written for adults, teens and/or kids?

What is the story's time period and location?

Can you tell us more about the main characters?

I copied a few details to the header/ topic title. Feel free to edit it.

I think it was written for adults, but it is teen and kids friendly (I remember someone commenting they really enjoyed it when they were kids).

I don't have information about time period, but location seems to be in the US or in England. Also, i don't know much about the characters, except for the female character that seems to be the main one.

Alan (alanjc) | 477 comments A long shot, but maybe try The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. A mystery, humorous and kid-friendly (Newbery Prize winner), and also by a female author, but later than your target era (published 1978). There is at least one edition with a red-edged cover.
