ABANDONED. YA Fantasy book where a brother and a sister move into an authors home and get transported with the house into her books

I first read this book around the mid 2010s, i dont remember exactly when. I believe it had a blue cover, but i might be mistaken. I do remember for sure that the side of the book was scraggly and uneven, mimicking an old fashioned book. I dont remember a ton of details from the story, but a brother and a sister move into an authors old home and get transported into her(?) novels. The book mainly takes place in a medieval type fantasy world where a mercenary type villain chases the boy up a tower at some point. I distinctly remember this villain saying he is ambidextrous and switching his sword to his left hand. The kids dog may have also been transported with them. The house also had many secret tunnels in its walls.

Thanks for the help in advance, this book was one of my favorites when i was younger, and i would love a chance to read it again.
