நான் சிறு கனலாக எழுத நினைத்து காட்டுத்தீயாக கிளைகளில் தாவி மொத்தமாக பரவி என்னை மென்மேலும் ரசித்து எழுதச் செய்த நாவலே "வேடன்".
"வேடன்" - பொதுவாக எனது கதைகளில் கதைக்கு நிகராக முக்கியப் பங்கு வகிப்பது விலங்குகளும் அதை ஒத்த மனித குணங்களுமே. அந்த வகையில் வேடனும் மனிதருக்குள் இருக்கும் இயல்பான மிருகங்களும் வெகுண்டெழுந்த மிருகங்களையும் பசியோடு உலாவவிட்டுருக்கின்றேன்.. சொல்லப்போனால் ஒட்டுமொத்த காட்டையும் ஒரு சேர இணைத்திருக்கின்றேன்.
ஆனால் எத்தனை ஆக்ரோஷமான மிருகம் என்றாலும் ஒரு திறமையான வேடன் குணமறிந்து அதை ஆட்சி செய்வான். அப்படியொரு ஆக்ரோஷ மிருகக் கூட்டத்திற்கு நடுவில் இந்த விளையாட்டை வேடனாக விளையாடி இருக்கின்றேன்..
பக்கங்கள் எத்தனை என்பது கதையின் ரசிப்புத் தன்மையில் மட்டுமே உள்ளது என்பதை முழுவதுமாக நம்புகின்றேன் அந்த வகையில் வேடன் எந்த ஒரு இடத்திலும் உங்களை சோர்வடைய செய்யமாட்டான் என்று உறுதியளித்து தொடங்குகின்றேன்.
