SF Collection containing A story about an intelligence in the electrical system of a spacecraft.

This book was one a series of "The Best Science Fiction of .....". It was probably published in the 1950' or 1960's. It has a specific short story about a pilot at the controls of a space ship who becomes aware that there is an intelligence located in the control system wiring of the spaceship.
If anyone knows the title or the author of this short story or the volume in which it appears I should be most grateful. I have looked for the item for ages without any luck.
