Joking aside I can't really help you. I've never liked the concept. It seems like it devalues our species and achievements.
Could you clarify whether you are looking for a series "like" Aliens or Predator, or a suggestion of good books in the Alien and Predator universe?

This is going to sound silly, but have you read Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi? The original novels are dated, campy and cute, but Scalzi rebooted the concept into more of an alien first-contact situation.

[*the Fuzzies are still cute ... but I liked the way Scalzi wrote them*]

I loved the Fuzzies!

Prometheus, on the other hand, was meant to have a bit of a hopeful feel at the end (I think). It had great potential, but I didn't care for it because it threw in too much of a 'kitchen sink' mentality at you at once, and then it didn't tie up a lot of those loose ends. It kinda reminded me of one of those 'serial' novels you download free from Amazon, the one with a hook at the end, and then you have to keep reading to find out what happened. I have no problem with continuing storylines or series, but I like my main story to wrap up by the end, and Prometheus just didn't do that for me. Loose ends ... and THEN send Elizabeth Shaw off to go shake her finger in 'gods' face and say 'just who the heck do you think you are?' But ... a lot of people loved the series.
My favorite movie of the bunch will always remain Aliens (the second one). "Get away from her you bitch!!! Yeah... and "You always were an @$$#0!e Gorman!"

I'm so excited for that movie. Blomkamp is great, I just hope he can continue with his string of fantastic movies.
