Science Fiction, near future, post apocalyptic world, mainly follows one man in his fight against the humanoid insects

Hey folks, this has been bugging me for a while
I think it is a trilogy of books, but for the life of me i remember so little that it is almost impossible to search for on google.
What i can remember: set in the near future on earth, pretty sure there is a chapter set on the dartmoor heath. mainly follows one man who is kind of like a rambo figure, all his friends and comrades are similar, generic big muscled almost invincible soldiers who have seen it all. There is a race of humanoid ant like creatures that they are fighting against (i dont think the creaturs are aliens i think they are genetically engineered by people trying to create a super race.. that sort of thing). The soldiers have advanced technology, camouflaged hover tanks, data cubes that fit in the palm of their hand but have terrabytes of ram and link to satellites and info databases around the world. One of the characters is called Priest, and the main character has a partner who dies in childbirth, the ending of the final book is him and his dog walking of into the mountain to die together.
Gods i hope any of this rings a bell with someone because it is annoying me so much, haha.

Id say the books were written in the 90s maybe late 90s, I have a feeling the cover of the 1st book had the hover tank concept art.
