Woman is hired to write a biography of a famous recluse who is dying

I just started to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and it starts out the same as a book I read YEARS ago but I can’t remember the title.

It was about a famous woman who is dying and she asks some random woman to write her biography. The woman agrees and their relationship evolves as the woman gets closer to dying.

The woman she hires ends up being related to the famous recluse.

I think it's The Thirteenth Tale too, but just in case, I'll also suggest The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. I read it a long time ago, but seems like some of the points overlap?
