YA Dystopian. Underground high security prison break (with robot dogs??) in dystopian England. Spoilers ahead.

I think I read this book about 2015/6 ish. It had been out for a while at that point. (At least a couple years)

As the book starts the main character is being transported to prison. He arrives at the prison goes through processing and is then taken into an elevator which goes really far underground.

He settled in. made a few friends// people who worked out what he was trying to do so made him promise to take them with him. Typical prison break vibes. There's a rota for different jobs including mining. I'm also pretty sure instead of just human guards there's also really aggressive robot dogs that walk around outside their cells at night.

I don't think he's actually meant to be there/ his crime doesn't really justify the level of prison he's in or whatever. He's working on breaking out and the way he does this is by blowing the mine up after he came across a cave system. The book ends with them jumping down an underground waterfall to escape.
