You Will Get Through This Night

How to Win friends and Influence People (free online copy: http://erudition.mohit.tripod.com/_In...) -- This is just basic people skills that you were probably never taught in school, but will be essential for your entire life. You can find a great outline here: https://www.quora.com/Is-%E2%80%9CHow...
Tuesdays with Morrie -- When you are on your deathbed, what are the things that will actually matter to you? Always begin with the end in mind. Too many people live their lives with too many regrets, spend their time and energy on things that don't matter, and blindly follow what every one says "ought" to be.

Learned Optimism: How to Change Your Mind and Your Life -- Optimism affects your physical and mental health, your ability to work, and how you interpret and face challenges. This isn't about making ritualistic "positive confessions," this is about perspective and how you think. There's a great outline of the book here: http://bookoutlines.pbworks.com/w/pag...
The Power of Full Engagement: Managing Energy, Not Time, Is the Key to High Performance and Personal Renewal -- Time management is a MYTH. It doesn't work. It's about managing your energy levels. It's about how to counteract that dip in energy around 12pm, 3-4pm, and around 7-8pm and maximizing that high energy window in the morning when you feel like you can do anything.

Give and Take: Why Helping Others Drives Our Success -- You can easily become rich if you don't have a problem with helping other people become rich. You don't have to be a shark or a d*ck in order to become wealthy. It's possible to be helpful, generous, kind, believe in the best in people, and still make it to the top. This gives you a framework for how that is possible, backed with countless studies.

Never Split the Difference: Negotiating as if Your Life Depended on It —Influence and persuasion master class. Written by an FBI Hostage negotiator who regularly makes million-dollar hostage negotiations DISAPPEAR. So many tactics baked into this book that will be relevant in nearly every relationship in your life. Romance, work, friendship, etc.
Thesis of the book is about EMOTIONS, rather than logic being the primary tool of negotiation — so counter to what has been written and known in the negotiation space.

Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win — This is stoicism in practice. Story after story about combat missions in Iraq to illustrate these practices. Insight into leadership in our military while at the same time seeing how you can take those principles into life and work. The authors are former SEALs that now consult with Fortune500 companies about leadership. Thesis is evident in the title, but if you struggle with "victim" mentality or complaining too much, this book will kick you out of it.

Nonviolent Communication: Create Your Life, Your Relationships, and Your World in Harmony with Your Values — Reading this book is like putting on X-ray goggles when it comes to conflict. Why do people fight? Why do most fights end up badly? Is there a better way to fight? This book lays one of the best foundations. I use principles from this book regularly, it has influenced nearly every close relationship in my life and helped reduce conflict, strengthen connection.

The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership: A New Paradigm for Sustainable Success — As someone who has been doing "self-work" for a good decade, this book has really challenged me. This book has revealed to me how much more work I have to do in becoming a well-rounded, holistic, and fully present human. It's as if someone summarized what 3 decades of "personal development" would result in, and then gave you a breakdown/roadmap of what to practice and how to get there. Definitely a book I'll have to read and reread for many years to get the full mileage out of it.
Your experience of the book will be 5x-ed if you go on their website and read their their handouts and worksheets.
