Pat Cody | 160 comments Though I don't follow horror genres, and I'm sure I missed many references made by characters, I found The Cut to be a tightly plotted and written book well worth reading. The main characters Millie and Jerome were particularly well developed and their motivations easy to follow. Pacing was fast and even, without slow spots for me, and I read steadily and with more involvment than I expected when I began the book. I give the book a 4 1/2 rating for being professionally plotted and written, plus involving.

AngryGreyCat (angrygreycatreads) | 554 comments I have read other Brookmyre books, the Jasmine Sharp series, and really enjoyed them. For me this was just okay and I wanted to like it more than I did. The plot line was intriguing, it reminded me a little of the movie, The Morning After. It just felt a bit long and drawn out to me. I have read much longer novels that flowed quicker, perhaps were more immersive? I enjoyed the current day bits after Millie is released and with Jerome. The parts that flashed back were what seemed to drag for me. I would still read more by this author as I have enjoyed his writing before.

I enjoyed this book and will be reading this author again."

Thanks, David! I'm flattered. I'll read this author again as well.
