Jenkyn was behind the corruption within the Home Office. He was the mastermind along with Felbrigg and Tratham. They tried to kill Ethan who almost died and was saved by Garrett and protected at Eversby Prior.

Ethan is Edmund’s illegitimate son who left him property in his will. However, Ethan is wealthy in his own right because of several lucrative patents. He’s now going to be assistant commissioner, in charge of an investigative unit. He and Garrett will marry. (hide spoiler)]
