Ellen-Arwen Tristram | 2341 comments Could I have 'butterfly' for a book that contains the word 'butter' in one place and 'fly' in another? Or is that pushing it too far lol?

message 302: by Andy (new)

Andy Of The Blacks | 2327 comments Hi everyone! I think it's time again to choose our skips for the month! We could use 3 to finish the round, depending on what everyone is reading? ;)

Ta || bookishbluehead (bookishbluehead) | 648 comments I'm currently reading The Violent Season which doesn't fit any category, but I can read for Flip Flop on cover and title that rhymes after that. :)

Aly (alyp_01) | 28931 comments Mod
I have a book for author's initials in JAS that I can start in the next couple of days.

Vanessa Gayle ⚔️ Fangirl Faction (fangirlfaction) | 2928 comments I am good with skips. The book I'm reading right now doesn't fit any of the open categories.

message 306: by Andy (new)

Andy Of The Blacks | 2327 comments The most difficult categories left might be:
- YA weapon on cover list
- item of art on cover
-Author’s first name is the same as your middle name
- Published from the year you were born

What do you think?

message 307: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments I may technically be able to stretch "Jennifer" for "Jeanne" for my middle name, which would cover the book I'm currently reading by Jennifer Niven but I'm not sure.

message 308: by Kade (new)

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments I believe I can fill item of art on cover in the next few days.

Andy Of The Blacks | 2327 comments Celia wrote: "I may technically be able to stretch "Jennifer" for "Jeanne" for my middle name, which would cover the book I'm currently reading by Jennifer Niven but I'm not sure."

Better ask in the Q&A thread! ;)

In case we could skip:

- YA weapon on cover list
- Published from the year you were born

and one of the following:
-Has a cookout
-Tagged ‘humor’ on first page of tags
-Message Alaina and ask for a book to read (ask for a certain genre and if you want YA/NA/ADULT )
-Cover has a summer scene
-Person wearing sunglasses on cover

I think sunglasses on cover might be the hardest, but any of these would work, I think...

What do everyone else think?

Ta || bookishbluehead (bookishbluehead) | 648 comments Andy wrote: "Celia wrote: "I may technically be able to stretch "Jennifer" for "Jeanne" for my middle name, which would cover the book I'm currently reading by Jennifer Niven but I'm not sure."

..."

I also think YA weapon on cover list and Published from the year you were born are the hardest to fit. If Celias book works for the middle name task, I think we should skip either the sunglasses on cover or the cook out task.

I think cookout is hard because it's tough to find a book with that in the story, since you can't really search for it. I'll look for a sunglasses book today

I could have used "the wolf and the woodsman" for cookout, actually (I used it for enemies to lovers) - we could move it if you wanted?

I keep finding cookouts in my books! :P Anything with people having social eating outside works I believe!

I have an enemies to lovers book if you want to change Wolf and the Woodsman. Otherwise, I'll see what I can find with outside eating

That's fine with me, I can ask Alaina if we can change it in the review thread.

What about the third skip? ;)

I spoke with Alaina and Celia's middle name book will not work. It needs to be the same name, not similar.

So we could do YA Weapon, Year you were born, and Middle name for our skips.

How does that sound?

Team! I found a book called Summer and July which can count for flipflops on cover and July in title.

I can read it for one of the categories, does anyone have time to read it with me? Then we can get a buddy plus knock out both of those categories.

Andy Of The Blacks | 2327 comments I am currently reading something for "food in title", but can keep it for next round if someone else finishes that prompt first!

message 334: by Andy (last edited Sep 04, 2022 11:29PM) (new)

Andy Of The Blacks | 2327 comments Anyway, we are currently missing the following, but check this chat, because I was under the impression people were already reading or planning to read, for a few of these prompts! ;) Maybe lets do a head count of what's everyone reading!

-sunglasses on cover
-flip flops on cover
-summer scene on cover
-author’s initial have J, A, or S (must be two out of three)
- Letters J, U, L, Y in title (any order)
-Type of food in the title
- Title that rhymes
-Tagged "humour"

message 335: by Andy (new)

Andy Of The Blacks | 2327 comments From previous posts I think Aly was planning to read something that would fit the "author’s initial have J, A, or S" and Ta might read something for "flip flops on cover" and/or "Title that rhymes". I am reading the "Type of food in the title", so nobody has declared anything about the following prompts (I don't think):

-sunglasses on cover
-summer scene on cover
- Letters J, U, L, Y in title (any order)
-Tagged "humour"

Thank you Aly! I just looked at the summary in the review thread, so maybe Alaina forgot to update it? I can't look at the spreadsheet at the moment...
Do you know if anybody is doing the "Title that rhymes"? That's one we usually find a bit difficult!

message 338: by akacya ❦ (new)

-sunglasses on cover
-summer scene on cover

Not sure if anyone claimed these in the spreadsheet, though...

I'll be done with my sunglasses book in the next half hour or so.

Ta was going to read a book for July, but she hasn't been on so she might have other things going on. If anyone is interested, Summer and July by Paul Mosier is a short middle grade book and pretty cute. Plus it's a buddy

It looks like Celia hasn't posted Montauk yet (or it just hasn't been counted)

We also still need JULY, Celia's title that rhymes, and Akacya's humor book

message 350: by akacya ❦ (new)

akacya ❦ (akacya) | 1603 comments Just added my humor book. I also have one for the rhyming title already done but it can be used for the next round if Celia’s almost done with hers
