Tami (tamicarvallo) | 6987 comments I found records with incomplete ISBN numbers, what should I do? Should I send a ticket to support or request a new book be added and then ask a super-librarian to merge them?

Alison | 961 comments Support should not be necessary. The merge will only require a superlibrarian if the incomplete-ISBN edition has been shelved more than 5 times.

Please do a search for the full ISBN-13 and the ISBN-10 (if applicable; they do not exist for 979 ISBN-13s) to make sure it's not already on the site and link us to it if it is on the site. If those are not on the site, a new edition will need to be added and set up for a merge before the merge can take place.

I would suggest putting one book per topic in the Book Issues folder. (Adding these books for a merge requires more work than the typical "Adding a New Book" post, so "Book Issues" seems better to me.) Then if a super is eventually needed we can tell you that the folder needs to be switched to the superlibrarian folder, if you are comfortable doing that. (Only staff and you can move your posts.)

To do that, you click the small "(edit)" link that follows the folder and topic name at the top of this page. That is also how you can edit the title when it's done, which is helpful to us. People usually add Done or Complete at the beginning, sometimes in [brackets] or with a colon.

Perhaps others will weigh in with different suggestions, so I advise waiting a bit before embarking on these requests. Thanks for wanting to correct the errors!
