Kate | 297 comments Hello everyone!

Today is the start of our APL Summer Reading Challenge for 2022! I wanted to send out a little information for those of you who are interested in participating this year again, or for the first time!

First, the Albany Public Library Adult Summer Reading Challenge will be hosted from Friday, June 24 to Wednesday, August 31.

Second, you can participate in a few ways:
1. Online (through this APL Goodreads group). If you want to participate through the Goodreads group, leave a comment in the Register Here discussion topic saying you want to be signed up (with your preferred name, username and preferred branch please!);
2. Readsquared. This year, APL has another online option available for kids through adults. Create an account here http://aplny11.readsquared.com/ Once you have an account, you can participate in additional missions and activities to earn points.
(Note: A Readsquared account is not required, if you are participating here in the APL Goodreads Group)
3. Paper forms are available! Stop by a branch to register and get your paper form. A PDF form will also be available for download from the APL website.

Keep track of your reading throughout the summer here with us on Goodreads! Any book you finish during this time period counts, no matter when you started reading.

10 books read = APL T-shirt

Each week, we’ll put up a new post on this Goodreads group. When you finish a book, comment under that week’s post with the title and author of the book or books you finished. Feel free to include some thoughts about what you read! In each week's post, we'll also include a weekly reading list as inspiration. These books are just to give you some reading inspiration - don't feel obligated to stick to these lists of themes!

Please feel free to comment, email- albanyreads@albanypubliclibrary.org or call any of our APL branches at (518-427-4300) with any questions!

Happy Summer Reading!

Hi Anne. It doesn't carry over from last year but I can register you now. What is your preferred branch?

message 4: by May (new)

May | 9 comments Hi - when we’ve read our ten books, do we just walk into any branch to pick up a shirt?

message 5: by Heather (new)

Heather Hi May!

We will notify you via Goodreads when you have completed the challenge. Once you have been notified, let us know your preferred t-shirt size and the branch you would like to pick up the t-shirt from via Goodreads, or by emailing albanyreads@albanypubliclibrary.org. Once the t-shirt arrives at the branch, a staff member will notify you to pick it up. If you have any additional questions do not hesitate to ask!

May | 9 comments Hi Heather - how does the notification come? Worried I may have missed it because I finished my 10 books at the beginning of last week; they are all recorded in my goodreads account as read, with dates attached, and I left them in the comments on the discussion posts.

Thanks for your help!

Joyce Bouchard | 8 comments Finished reading Nineteen Minutes, Jodi Picoult. It was such a tough subject but I feel it is such an important one when we discuss gun safety and mental health. As always this author puts me into the story.
