Hannah Robb I would give the book I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont 4 stars. The picture book is about a little girl who is telling the reader everything that they like about herself. She likes her hair, nose, ears, etc. The girl also says that even if she looked a little different, she would still like herself. I think that this is a great book to help students with their self-confidence. Some students might not like the way that their hair looks that morning or another student might not like the way his ears look. This little girl shows that it is important to love yourself and be proud of who you are and what you look like.

An extension activity that teachers could do with this book is to have each student take a picture of something that makes them unique. They could pick their hair, their feet, or their smile. The students would then write 3 reasons why they like it. For example, their hair might be the same color as their mom’s, their eyes show that they are happy, or their toes get to wiggle in the sand. The students could then hang their posters in the hallway so everyone can see what makes each student in the classroom special.
