Threatened Waters by Kevin Land Patrick Twelvers #1Water as a weapon of war. The world's vulnerable water supplies. While the world reels from Russia’s overtures in its former Republics and the Middle East falls into turmoil, terrorist cells disappear overnight from Europe after meeting with a Russian suspected to deal in unconventional arms. Appearing in the United States through its southern border, multiple attacks on America’s vulnerable water infrastructure threaten to return the United States to eighteenth century conditions. With the intelligence community compromised, a frantic search develops to uncover the plot and what elements or Nation States are behind it. The attacks require a response from a President seeking reelection. But will it be against the wrong target? Are the attacks designed not only to attack America but also bring American retaliation against the antagonists’ real enemy? While the Middle East embroiled in secular conflict and the vulnerable Russian economy edges toward the loss of its natural gas monopoly with Europe, the United States must confront a new understanding of the importance of electricity and water to twenty-first century civilization. And just how vulnerable water infrastructure is to acts which Threaten Waters essential for life.
I started #2 in series a while ago (I got the feeling I'm missing some details and found out it's #2 in series, so I stopped it and waited for a deal on #1). As the previous one started with a lot of action I expect this one to have action as well.

His newest book "Kingdom of Bones: A Thriller" deals with what happens when the Congo's environment and everything in it is put into jeopardy. Though the SIGMA agents have a lot to do in his stories this one is a standalone one. It is a good one to consider if looking for action, too.

Lemmer is a freelance Invisible. The tiny and beautiful Emma le Roux, a brand consultant from Cape Town, wants to hire him. He needs the money, so he listens to her story. Lemmer’s First General Law is: Don’t get involved. But he has never failed as a body guard and he’s also grown a little too fond of Emma. He uncovers simmering racial and political tensions, greed, corruption, and a network of eco-terrorists. He follows the leads until he finds what he’s after: The people who attacked Emma. Getting to them will be extremely dangerous, and exposing them could have international political implications. If he fails, both he and Emma will end up dead. But Lemmer is sick and tired of being invisible. He goes after them, against all odds.

1. One nomination per group member. The books must be nominated with a Goodreads link by clicking on 'add book/author'. If a book does not have a Goodreads link, it will not be added to the poll.
2. Books need to be readily available, ie, in print (able to buy new or in ebook format).
3. Books should have some degree of action/adventure content.
