Rotten Gods by Greg Barron
>The hostage taking to end all hostage takings. What happens when every single world leader is trapped in a locked room with a gang of psychopaths for a week?
Savage Tide (Marika Hartmann, #2) by Greg Barron
> A conspiracy revolving around a biological weapon, and an terrorist attack targeting a totally unexpected place, but one which would leave everyone in East Africa dead.
Voodoo Dawn (Marika Hartmann, #2.5) by Greg Barron
> A brief detour as a crazed gang of Pirates attack a sail boat off Papa New Guinea and take hostages.
Lethal Sky (Marika Hartmann #3) by Greg Barron
> The curtain call. The sophisticated terrorist group gets their hands on a biological weapon which causes global famine and begin amassing a fleet of UAV's to deploy it around the world.

Mr Barron is unique in the counter-terrorist/geopolitical thriller genre. Unlike other authors his series deals with one story arc with a beginning, middle and end. It's a saga, like one of those Greek Epics.
Also unique is the slightly dystopian universe his work is set in. Islamic terrorists have become incredibly sophisticated, the environment is going to hell in a handcart and there are no easy solutions. And from this backdrop, an Australian employee of UK SIS duels against a Jihadist group which makes Osama Bin Laden look like a petty criminal. Also of note is the environmentalist subtext which quite a lot of you may disagree with.
