Rainbowheart | 28662 comments I know I linked the Friendship Between Girls list earlier, but you might want to take another look at it just in case.

Capn and I have been working on building it up, and it's up to 330 books now.

Capn | 3506 comments I'm sure you've already scraped everything you can from your memory, but just in case I can shake something loose:

- name of school? Something like Valemont High? Or George Washington? Or something that was easily changed into a mockery?

- Art teacher? Name or description? Art scholarship? Other things she drew? Charcoals, pastels, HB, 8B, 4H pencils? Chiaroscuro? Portrait of a famous person or local dignitary? Assignments? Homework?

- Did the girls compare themselves to anyone else? Maybe a literary duo, like Anne Shirley and Diana Barry? Or Thelma and Louise?

- Creed, culture, religion? Either of them Jewish or Catholic or Lutheran or Baptist or Unitarian or staunch atheist? JW, LDS Mormon? Clubs or societies? Local museum pass, or girl scouts? Either of them have a hero or mentor they looked up to?

- Any older women in the story? Aunts, teachers, grandmothers, older sisters or cousins? Over-protective fathers, snot-nosed younger brother? Pets? A guinea-pig named Horace, or a lazy dog?

- Does anything untoward become of the guy she bangs in the bathroom? Does he have a car, or a rusty old pick-up truck? Colour, make? How do they get to school (do they go to the same school?)? Loser-cruiser bus, skateboard, walk through park or past the shops, bikes?

- Any holidays or festivals occurring in the book? Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, National Ice Cream month? ;) Art fair? School play?

- Road trip? Exams? Term projects? Conflict with home room teacher, or a stint in detention? Hang out at the bike racks?

- Criminality? Petty theft, marijuana, under-age drinking? Cheating at school? Passing notes, leaving notes in lockers?

(I don't know - sometimes it works. Guessing you've already expunged all you've got!). ;)

Rainbowheart | 28662 comments I'm sure this is solvable! But it seems like it must be missing all the keywords we've been searching so diligently.

Sandra Montalvo | 40 comments No dice. Im almost 100% this was not a series.

message 57: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28662 comments I'll keep looking! We will track this down!!

Sandra Montalvo | 40 comments No dice. There aren’t any deaths in the book that I can recall. This is legitimately haunting me.

Rainbowheart | 28662 comments I'll keep my eyes open!

I'm sure we will stumble across it eventually.

Rainbowheart | 28662 comments I just had a thought. Are you absolutely positive that the book was about two friends and not two sisters?

message 62: by Sandra (new) - added it

Sandra Montalvo | 40 comments Absolutely positive. No relation except the best friendship.

message 63: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart | 28662 comments Just wanted to double check!

I'll keep looking....

message 64: by Capn (new)

Capn | 3506 comments Painting Caitlyn came up with a keyword search. Title sounded good, but it seems to be centrally focussed on a controlling BF named Tyler. :S

Capn | 3506 comments The Opposite of Invisible, maybe? Artistic Seattle high school sophomore Alice decides to emerge from her cocoon and date a football player, which causes a rift between her and her best friend, a boy who wants to be more than just friends.
(aww crap, male best friend..)

So did I. :( It was too close to not mention, though!

Man, this one.... :p

Sandra Montalvo | 40 comments No dice :/ this is haunting me. I even asked myself if maybe it was a short story but I just don’t feel like it was one of those books by several authors.

Rainbowheart | 28662 comments I'll keep my eyes peeled! It's gotta be out there, and we'll come across it eventually.

Keep the faith!

Capn | 3506 comments Has The True Meaning of Cleavage been guessed?
The True Meaning of Cleavage by Mariah Fredericks
https://openlibrary.org/books/OL24834... (text: "Halloween dance" "skeleton" "drawing" "sketch")

Page 48
"I mean, that skeleton costume she had on . . ."

Page 53
Then I hear: "Hey, Ms. Skeleton."

Page n12
I am drawing a picture of Sari Aaronsohn.

Page n12
Sari is my best friend. But drawing her is harder than you might think.

Page 2
She doesn't notice me drawing. We've been friends

Page 5
Sari's sleeping over, and we catch the crosstown bus to my house. While she stares out the window, I go into my knapsack and get out my sketch pad. Looking at my drawing, I see I haven't gotten her at all. Even when Sari's just looking out the window, there are a million things going on in her face. All I have here is some squiggles.
