Pandora is caught in a compromising situation caused by Lady Berwick’s daughter Dolly when she tries to help her and Gabriel comes in for an assist. Is it possible that Lord Chaworth, the host of the ball, and Lady Berwick had a hand in this scandal since he had an axe to grind with Gabriel and she wanted to marry off Pandora?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I'm sure they did. It would have been very easy for them to keep quiet about the "compromising position" as they knew that nothing untoward happened.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments With Lady Berwick I wouldn't be surprised. But she would have had no idea that Gabriel was lurking about on the grounds, so I don't think she could have intentionally she them up. And she could have had no idea that Pandora would get stuck under the settee.

I’m pretty suspicious. I think they were in cahoots.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments You are probably right Jonetta. It is something that Lady Berwick would engineer.

There were too many coincidences. Pandora trying to save Dolly, Gabriel happening upon her and the host of the ball out for a stroll? With a witness?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments It was suspicious to me, but I don't know how Lady Berwick or Lord Chaworth would know that Gabriel would happen along when he did.

Lady Berwick seemed very gleeful that they had caught Pandora and Gabriel in a compromising situation and they would have to marry. It was a feather in her cap to get Pandora married to the son of a Duke.
