In April we welcomed our newest Grandson to the family, although not without a little caution as, eager to meet us all he came into the world 13 weeks early and weighing only 1Kg. However eight weeks on he is continuing to fight and to grow, has moved from birthday suit to romper suits and although not completely out of the woods he is getting there. This task is based on him.
This is a 3 book task read one book for each option Your total page count must be at least 750 pages. No children's books or graphic novels etc. allowed.
Option 1
As he arrived early Mum and Dad were not ready with names for him and so for at least a month he was affectionately known as Number 9 (our 9th grandchild).
Read a book that has a number 9 in its series number. The series number must show in greyscale in the Goodreads record.
E,g,

Option 2
Eventually he did get the most beautiful name - Louis Paul Michael but a little part of me still uses his birth pseudonym of Number 9.
Read a book by an author who uses a pseudonym. The author needs to be writing under that pseudonym. Link to information that identifies the pseudonym.
e.g. J.D. Robb will work but Nora Roberts will NOT.
Amanda Quick or Jayne Castle but NOT Jayne Ann Krentz
P.J. Tracy works as that is a pseudonym for a duo of authors
Option 3
I couldn’t write this task without mentioning Louis’ big sister 16 year old Avelyn, who stayed calm and made sure her mum got the help she needed and also looked after her younger siblings protecting them from what was going on. I am so proud of her. In honour of Avelyn
a) read a book with a MC who is a teenager (Link To information confirming age of MC )
e.g.

OR
b) read a book which contains the word “TEEN” intact in its title or subtitle
e.g.

My partner and I are planning on moving this year and buying a flat/house of our own for the first time! We can only afford somewhere small which means I have to do some MAJOR decluttering and downsizing. Help me declutter some of those books on my TBR shelf!
Choose one book from each of the three options. Your books must total 750+ pages, no children's books or graphic novels etc. allowed. All books must be new to you.
Option 1- A Library In My Pocket
To help me declutter my physical TBR I've found it helpful to download Audiobooks or E-Books from the library of the books I already physically own, so I can have them with me wherever I go!
Book A - Read a book that has an audiobook edition available [You do not have to listen to the audiobook, but you must link to both the edition you read, AND the audiobook edition].
Book B - Read a book that has an E-book edition available [You do not have to read the e-book edition, but you must link to both the edition you read, AND the e-book edition].
Option 2 - Two Birds With One Stone
There's a little loophole in the SRC rules where we can knock an extra book off our shelves. Two books of poetry or plays with under 100 pages can be combined to meet the minimum page threshold! I wish this rule applied to essays and short stories/ novellas too.
Book A - Read TWO books with an mpg of either plays OR poetry [you can't combine one of each] to make them meet a minimum of 100 pages.
Book B - Read a book containing a collection of essays or short stories.
Option 3 - How Did I End Up With SO Many Books?
My family and friends know I'm a bookworm so I get given multiple books every birthday and Christmas, and on top of that I have books borrowed from them that need returning!
Book A - Read a book you were given as a gift.If you don't have any gift books unread on your shelf you may read a book from this list:Best Books To Gift [all books must meet src guidelines regardless of their place on the list].
Required: You must say you got this as a gift, or if using the list option, which page of the list your book is on.
Book B - Read a book you have borrowed from a PERSON, not a library! If you do not have any borrowed books, or are unable to borrow a book from someone, you may borrow one from my shelf of read books: Books I Have Read, providing it meets the SRC guidelines. Required: State that you have borrowed this book
Optional but highly recommended additional activity: Declutter those bookshelves! Return borrowed books, and give books you won't reread to charity, or sell them.

Books are magical talismans that allow us to travel through time and space and even to enter the minds of others. Read one book for each option. Your books must total 750 pages. No books with the genre Children or Kids on the main page may be used. No books with the genres Sequential Art, Comic Books, or Manga on the main page may be used.
Book 1: Travel Through Time
Read a book set entirely before the year 1900 or after the year 2100. If the year isn't obvious in the main page description, provide a link to verifying information. The book may be fiction or nonfiction. It does not need to be published before 1900 (and if you have a book published after 2100, we all want to know how you did that!), but all of the action has to occur during that time.
There are plenty of options for the pre-1900 period and here is a list of possibilities for the post 2100 period. Books are not limited to this list, these are just some ideas.

Book 2: Travel Long Distances
Start at your home city and country, or the closest town of any size. (If you do not wish to share your personal information, you may ask the Task Manager for a random location.) Read a book set at least 2000 miles (3220 kilometers) from your starting point. Use the following site to verify the direct distance (this is probably not the real-world driving or flying distance.)
https://www.mapdevelopers.com/distanc...
State your starting point, your end point, and the distance in miles or kilometers. If the location of the book isn't a specific city, use whatever information the book provides to determine the location. Books may be fiction or nonfiction. The book can take place in multiple locations provided all locations are at least 2000 miles (3200 km) from your start.
Book 3 - Travel Into Another Mind
Read a book from the point of view of a nonhuman. See below for suggestions. The book doesn't need to be told in first person, but the main point of view needs to be from a nonhuman character. At least 75% of the book needs to be from this character. Here are some ideas:
-An animal (dog, cat, insect, etc.)
Here are some examples, but remember no MPG of Children's or Kids may be used. Books do not need to be from this list. If it isn't obvious from the main page, please link information to show the point of view.

=A mythical or supernatural creature (dragon, fairy, demon, zombie, vampire, hobbit, etc.) The main point of view must be from one of these creatures. Same MPG restrictions as above.
-A cyborg, android, robot or other artificially intelligent being. Here are some ideas, but this particular list may include books with only some scenes told from the point of view of the AI. For this task, at least 75% of the book must be told from the AI point of view. You are not limited to this list, these are just some ideas. If the connection isn't clear on the main page description, please link to information confirming the point of view. Same MPG restrictions as above.

Enjoy your travels!

Ever get a song lyric stuck in your head? The chorus repeats itself over and over again on an endless reel throughout the day. Well, I recently heard an old Jackson 5 song, ABC, which got stuck in the background soundtrack of my life. This old song from my childhood has been stuck in my head for weeks! There is only one thing I could think to do and that was sing it out.
This task is inspired by the chorus of ABC. Read one book for each chorus option OR choose one option and read three books which meet the task requirement for all letters, numbers or musical notes mentioned in the task. Books should total 750 pages or more.
Chorus:
A B C, It's easy as
1 2 3, as simple as
Do re mi, A B C, 1 2 3
Baby you and me girl
Join in the chorus and help me sing it out 🎵🎹🎤
Option 1: ABC
Read one book where the first word of the title begins with either the letter A, B, or C. All title words count, including “A” or “An.” Include the title word and letter used in your post.
Option 2: 123
Read one book which is either number 1,2, or 3 in a series. Series name must appear in greyscale in the Goodreads data. Include the series name and number in your post.
Option 3: Do Re Mi
Read one book with either “do,” “re,” or “mi” found intact in a title word. Include title word and musical note used in your post.

Select one option and read three books for each sub-section. Each subsection may only be used once. None of your books should be less than 269 pages, and should have a combined total of more than 800 pages. Your books should not be MPG Children's, Kids, Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga.
Option 1: A Head Full of Dreams
Book 1: Dream Place
I'm moving to London soon, and that's huge for me. Though I'm aware of the challenges that I will face, it's been my dream for so long and I am looking forward to making it a reality.
Read a book that is 100% set in a country you would love to live in. This cannot be the country you live in currently. It needs to be a real world country that can be plotted on a map. Fantasy books that are set in real world countries are acceptable.
Required: State the name of the country you live in, and the country where this book is set.
Book 2: Dream Job
I'm going to be studying to get my degree in Data Science; a field that I have wanted to be a part of for a long time, and I'm really looking forward to the job prospects I will have a path towards.
Read a book where the protagonist works in your dream field. It need not be the exact job that you want, but it does need to be the same industry (eg. film industry, academia, aviation, carpentry, etc.). If you are working in your dream industry, you can read a book set in the same industry.
Required: State your dream industry.
Book 3: Dream Language
I've been passively learning French for a while, but it's only now that I'm serious about it. My goal is to be fluent in the language by the end of 2022, and to read at least two books in French this year. I want to be fluent enough to read Les Misérables by Victor Hugo in the original French.
Read a book that was originally published in the language that you dream of speaking one day. Translated works are allowed, and you may feel free to read your book in the original language.
Required: State your dream language.
Option 2: The Chances We Have
Book 1: Committing to Change
One of my goals during my postgraduate degree is to learn how to network in professional circles. I'm more of an ambivert, so this really out of my comfort zone.
Read a book where the main character commits to making a change that is the central theme of the book (personal improvement, environmental improvement, spirituality, etc.). This book can be fictional or non-fictional; however, the book needs to be about this change.
Required: State the change.
Book 2: Give a Chance
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita when I recently read it for a Book of the Month challenge. It seemed like such an intimidating novel, but my head was spinning when I read it (in a good way!).
Read a book by an author you have never read a book by who you are hesitant to read. Maybe they might surprise you!
Book 3: Let's not Forget the Old
I had read A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett when I was maybe eight years old. For over ten years, the story stuck with me but I could not track down the exact book (the word 'princess' was the only word in the title I could remember). I yelped when I saw a copy for sale, and felt like I was dreaming when I read it for the first time after all these years.
Read a book that you have read at least 5 years ago that you have been meaning to go back to and re-read.
Required: State when you last read this book.

The 50 point task will require:
1. Only 3 options. These options may not include more than 2 "sub options" - 6 total in the task.
2. One book per option.
3. Three books totaling at least 750 pages. Your task idea may require a higher page threshold but this must be disclosed in your entry.
4. No books with the genres children or kids on the main book page may be used.
5. Books whose main page lists any of these genres: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga may not be used.
6. No “free choice” options will be allowed. This is a challenge, so tasks that have no element of challenge do not fit the purpose.
7. A task must be accessible to the majority of players, i.e. not limited to a specific format, edition, publisher, etc. and reviewable by the moderators.
Anyone eligible* to design a task may submit an idea for a task that follows the general guidelines above. Your idea should be a sketch that may be developed with the moderators.
* To be eligible to create a task, the player’s profile must be set up to accept Goodreads messages, and they must not have a task in the current challenge. Only one task per person per challenge.
The group will vote to determine the 50 point task. All ideas that fit the general guidelines will be included in a poll. The poll winner will develop their idea with the moderators to refine their task. The final task may differ from the original idea submission. The task will be posted as close to the midpoint as reasonably possible. The task creator will monitor and answer questions in the help thread.
Please include your Readerboard name and a title for your task. The entries will be listed by Readerboard name and task title in the poll. Please include only one task idea entry per post.
PLEASE DO NOT comment on people's entries in this thread - this is for submissions only - you will be able to comment when voting begins. Comments in this thread will be deleted.
