Morgan | 10 comments I read this book when I was around maybe
12 so about 12 years ago. It's from the
perspective of a boy and he and his family
live in a tent surrounded by other families
who live in tents (like a little community)
and I feel like I remember them living on
some kind of field that was near to other
things so not entirely secluded. Could
possibly have been dystopian/ based on a true story but not sure. I
remember the MC having a little brother.
From what I remember, the cover was black
and white with a silhouette of this kid and a
tent

Did it seem like it was set in the modern day, or during a historical period, like during a war? Maybe a refugee camp?

Morgan, I copied a few details to the header/ topic title. Feel free to edit it.

What was the mood or tone - e.g., tense, thriller, adventure, funny at times, sad, etc.?

Morgan | 10 comments Definitely felt more like a refugee camp and not a homeless camp. I believe they had to flee from home but not 100% sure

Rainbowheart | 28705 comments Was the boy a teenager or a younger child?

message 6: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 10 comments Younger child and his brother was younger than him. I’d say maybe he was 10 or 12 but no older than that

Rainbowheart | 28705 comments Does anything on the Middle-Grade Dystopias list look familiar?

message 8: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 10 comments None of those look like it. The descriptions I read sounded like most of those were a bit fantasy like where kids have powers of some sort but this just had regular kids lol

Alan (alanjc) | 490 comments Do you recall the nationality of the characters? Or the location?

One book with a family with kids (told from one boy's PoV) is After Tomorrow by Gillian Cross. It has English kids (and family) living in a refugee camp in France after some financial collapse. Was published 2013, so may be a bit late.
