Will something as a cut of rose, in the hair of person work… if it is clearly a real flower not a hair thing? Or do it need more as a bouquet of flowers?
Lea wrote: "Will something as a cut of rose, in the hair of person work… if it is clearly a real flower not a hair thing? Or do it need more as a bouquet of flowers? "It would have to be very obviously a real flower to work.
Hi Kat!I joined in 2013 but I only have 4 books from that time on my list, since I wasn’t actively reading. The rest are from 2017 on.
Do I need to read from those 4 only?
Thanks!
I have a few books starting in 2018 on my TBR, but nothing romance. I joined GR in 2012. Most of my romance books start in 2020-2021. I am terrible about adding books to my TBR and just really started using it a lot after I got into challenges. What should I do?

You should use the instructions as if you joined in 2017 or after.

Hi Kat ! This will be definitively a challenge ! 😅
So I joined GR only on January (8 months ago) and start as logging my favorite series already started, to keep track on them (so it will not help this date) or my to-read art books (also not for this date).
I can’t say I have no to-read books in the first 200 books logged :
I have perhaps 30 of them but 20 of them are arts books, the others (except 2-3 books) are to-read instalments of already started series
In the case you permit the use of my to-read list : I will definitively have a bunch of first of series (because when I join RRRC, I start to log them), so if it is the task of the date : I’ll have some choices…💕
but I can already tell that I won’t have any SHR : it will be a date for my teammates perhaps…

You can use your TBR shelf. 😊
I have checked all the team threads. There are several corrections requested, I will use the GR time stamp to confirm they were made in time.I'll get the next date announced as close to on time as possible. 🤞🏼

"That would work.

Date 6 - L - TASK ANNOUNCEMENT
L is for Lead - Read a book that begins a series.
To qualify for this task, the book has to be numbered 1 or lower in a numbered series listed on GR. Please provide the link to the series page in your completion post. For this task, the series must have a series page and be numbered on GR.
Remember books must be 90 pages (first edition English language Kindle) and MPG Romance!!
You have until Friday, August 12 @ Midnight US EDT to post your completion(s).
Please ensure that your completion post conforms to message #3 of your team thread. If you complete more than one book for the date task, be sure to include that information in your completion post. Remember no discussion in your completion posts!
Date 6 - Tasks: Breakdown of the qualifications for possible tasks for Date 6.Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

L is for Leafy - Read a book with a distinct plant on the cover.
To qualify for this task, the book's cover needs to show a distinct plant. I need to be able to distinguish at least one plant on the cover - a green blur in the distance is not going to work. To work, the cover needs to clearly and obviously show at least one plant. A tree, shrub, houseplant, flowering plant, etc will qualify, grass on the cover will not work. You can use any edition's cover to qualify for this task. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion post.
L is for Lighten - Read a book that has been unread on your GR shelves for over 5 years.
To qualify for this task, selected book/s need to have been unread on your GR shelves for over 5 years or as described below if you are newer to GR. Rereads will not be allowed for this task!
● If you joined GR prior to or in 2016, you can use any unread book you added to your GR shelves in 2016 or earlier. Show the date you joined GR and the date the book was added in your completion posts. This is using the date you joined GR not the date you joined RRRC.
● If you joined GR in 2017 or later, you can read any of the first 200 books you added to GR. On your profile page click on 'name's' bookshelves (above the list of your shelves) - this will show all your books on GR. At the bottom of the page, set it to show 100 books per page. Click on 'date added' to sort by the date the book was added to your shelves. If the arrow is pointing down (showing most recently added books first), click again to reverse so it is showing the first books added. You can select any unread book on these first two pages of books for this task. Show the date you joined GR and the date the book was added in your completion posts.
L is for Lullaby - Read a book featuring a pregnancy or infant.
To qualify for this task, the title, précis, list or tag would need to include the words 'pregnancy' (or its variants), 'infant' or 'baby'. The précis can also expressly state in other words that the book has a pregnancy in the story, this only applies to pregnancy and only to the précis. These words need to be in context, 'baby, it's cold outside' does not work. 'Child/ren' and 'kid/s' will not be acceptable for this task, the selected books need to feature a pregnancy or infant. 'Childrens' as in children's books (books written for kids) is specifically excluded from this task. 'Childrens' will not be an acceptable qualifier even if the book is clearly not a children's book.
Hello Kat (or anyone else if you know the answer) : how do we give proof that the book once read, was in our first 200 to-read list for Lighten ?
LillianaPassions wrote: "Hello Kat (or anyone else if you know the answer) : how do we give proof that the book once read, was in our first 200 to-read list for Lighten ?"Hi Lilliana,
All you can do is include a link to the book on your shelves. That will show the date the book was added, and from that Kat can determine approximately (if not exactly) how many books were added before/after it.

Hey everyone! Since Kat won't be around much (if at all) for the next couple of days, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for questions. Anything that relates to rules, etc. I'm fine with answering, but if there's a judgement call on whether or not a cover or tag will qualify, I'm not comfortable answering those. Kat's brain and mine are almost interchangeable much of the time, but it's judgement calls like those where they sometimes don't. Just thought I'd let you know so it doesn't look like I'm answering some questions and just ignoring others! 😃
Steph wrote: "Hi Kat! Will 'adding a baby' work for Lullaby?"So sorry for the delay. Yes, that will work in context.
Welcome back, Kat! I hope you had a great mini vacation.Would babies-and-marriage-oh-my work for Lullaby?

Heather wrote: "Welcome back, Kat! I hope you had a great mini vacation.Would babies-and-marriage-oh-my work for Lullaby?"
Thank you!
Being that it is a combo tag - marriage and babies, it would need to be supported by (at the very least not contradicted) by other tags and the precis. If everything else indicates that the tag is used to mean marriage and not babies, then the tag would not be allowed.
I am very strict with combo tags.
Hi all! Yes, I'm back - we had a good weekend and I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm struggling a bit with focus this afternoon - both eyes and brain, so I am not sure how caught up I will get tonight. I am home tomorrow though, so hopefully that will give me enough time to get current. Thanks for the patience!

No worries on the delay! Glad to hear you had a good time :)
Would the tag 'babies-and-marriage-oh-my' work for the lullaby qualification? If it's a no, I totally understand. I just wanted to double check.
Ariel wrote: "Would the tag 'babies-and-marriage-oh-my' work for the lullaby qualification? If it's a no, I totally understand. I just wanted to double check."Someone asked about that very same tag a little earlier. This was my answer:

Lea wrote: "Hi KatWill a tag of fake pregnancy work for lullaby?"
I really want to say no to this, but it kinda works. So in context, yes I will allow it.
Jill wrote: "Would this combo tag be okay? prn-uf-fantasy-timetravel-mpreg or this one, relationships-baby"In context, I would allow those. But I am strict with combo tags, so if the rest of the tags or precis contradict the intent for the task, it would be disallowed.

Not on purpose and as the non audiobook user I am surprised when I am near the top.

O is for ??? - ???
To be revealed when the date begins.
O is for Octuple - Read a book from a series with 8 or more books listed on GR.
To qualify, the selected book needs to be in a numbered series listed on GR with at least 8 books included in the series. In between books will count in the series total for this task, but to count they must be distinct works. Not all books in the series need to have been released, but an unpublished book needs to have a title and an expected release date available for it to count as one of the required books. Series without order or numbers will not be allowed for this task. Series such as 1001 Dark Nights will also not be allowed.
O is for Once in a Blue Moon - Read a book written by an author with 50 or fewer distinct works who was first published at least 10 years ago.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be written by authors with 50 or fewer distinct works whose first book was published prior to August 2012. When looking at the author's GR page, under the profile and questions is a section for the author's books. Under the section title 'author's books' it has statistics - average rating, number of ratings, number of reviews, number of distinct works. For this task, the number listed there for distinct works needs to be 50 or fewer. This is the only place I will look to confirm your books - if the number listed there is not 50 or fewer AND the first book was not published more than 10 years ago, your book will not work for this task. Please include a link to the author's GR page in your completion post along with the date and title of their first published book release (or any book published more than 10 years ago). If the author writes under pseudonyms, the name listed on the selected book needs to qualify for this task. If the author's primary name is listed along with the pseudonym, for example "Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb", the pseudonym still needs to qualify on its own - you may not use the primary name to qualify your book. If both the primary and pseudonym names are listed authors on the GR main book page, the pseudonym is the name that needs to qualify. Books written by duo authors that do not write under a combined pseudonym, i.e. Christina Lauren or Ilona Andrews, are not allowed for this task.
O is for Oral - Read a book that has an audio edition available.
To qualify, the book needs to be available as an audiobook. You do not need to listen to the audiobook, but one needs to be available. Please link to the audio edition on GR of your chosen book. If that is not available, please provide a link to audible (preferred) or Amazon showing the audio edition.
Will a author that had her first book published 1 August 2012 work for O is for Once in a Blue Moon?
Lea wrote: "Will a author that had her first book published 1 August 2012 work for O is for Once in a Blue Moon?"I will allow any date prior to August 13, 2012. Please make the specific date very clear in your completion posts.
