What about series name as a qualification for the Alligator task. Im thinking of these two series in particular: Spruce Texas Football Sundae
Sinister in Savannah Ride the Lightning
Serial Dating Rose 🌹 For every multiple of 8 books read, teams will earn a rose. So 8 books is one rose, 16 books is 2 roses, 24 books is 3 roses and so on. (Number of roses will vary each date, maximum of 7 per team per date.)I counted 40 books for my team for Date 1. Wouldn't that be 5 roses for Serial?
Allie wrote: "Qualification question: if something is tagged bayou or has bayou in the title does that work for the alligator task? because it's in reference to the Louisiana bayou but doesn't specifically say "..."I will allow bayou unless contradicted by other setting or tags. It seemed like it is mostly in the gulf states of the southeast and those are all good. In my research it said bayous could extend to Arkansas and that isn't an allowed state though.
Trio wrote: "Hi - what are the rules for re-reads in this challenge?"Rereads are allowed. You are not allowed to read a book more than once during the challenge though.

Both of those books also have a setting in the book details, but I would allow series name for qualification.

LillianaPassions wrote: "Hi Kat ! You did not mention Tennessee as part of the states that could be claimed for Alligator ?"No, I did not - to qualify the books need to be set in one of the listed states.
If I've missed any questions, please ask again or somehow nudge me and I will get to it in the morning!
Hi Kat, Would the series title count for Alligator in this case?
I was looking at this book - Southern Playboy
It's book #4 in the North Carolina Highlands Series.
Thanks!

This question was asked already. (see message #109) But yes, I will accept series names as qualification for Alligator.
ETA: I wasn't trying to be snarky, just pointing out you didn't need to wait for my slow answer. 😊
Is difficult to find books from 2022 with MPG Romance, they have less tags to be MPG. If I found a SH book that Don't have a MPG Romance but is specified in description that is a romance book or in Amazon will count?. A subtitle like "a ... romance novel" will be OK?
R~wka wrote: "Is difficult to find books from 2022 with MPG Romance, they have less tags to be MPG. The consolation here is that everyone in the challenge is facing the same situation.
The only thing I can suggest is that if you are certain it is a romance, then tag it as such, maybe your teammates will as well, and hopefully it will show before the date ends.
(I have allowed romance tags after the date begins in previous rounds and will do so again as an exception to only accepting tags made prior to the start of the date. This is ONLY for romance tags.)

Thanks! And not snarky at all! I just didn't look at all of the answers well enough. As in - I saw the response re: Bayou and missed the question re: Name of town or state in title or series. 🤦♀️
ONE day far far in the future I will learn to READ all of the words in ALL of the messages 😂

Use the Kindle page count from Amazon (310), say it is from Amazon and ideally include a link. 😊
Sorry, I've been slacking on checking the team threads this week. No excuse other than it's been hot and easier to do other things - like play stupid games on my phone. 😂🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️I hope to work on it tomorrow. 🤞🏼
‼️ Completion Posts ‼️I wanted to make some reminders about completion posts and qualifying your book/s for task.
You need to let me know how you know your book qualifies! I need to know where to look to confirm your books!
● If your qualification is from the precis - say so and include a quote from the precis that you are using as the qualifier. Also make sure the link you are using for your book includes the quote in the precis. Yes, they are not all the same!
● If your qualification is from the book details - say so!
● If your qualification if from tags/shelves - include a link to the top shelves page with the qualifying tag in your completion post. I also need the exact tag, the number of tags and the top shelves page number - this info is extremely helpful if the tag moves or the link is broken and both happen often! Do not include a link to the page for the tag, I need the top shelves page for the book. Please check your links!
● If your qualification comes from list - include a link for the list, ideally the page your book is on. Also include the number your book is on the list and the page your book is on. Please check your links!
● Books need to qualify on their own - not from info from other books in a series! I have been VERY lenient about this for this date, but going forward I will be enforcing this more strictly.
● You cannot use something from inside a book to qualify your books.
Date 3 - C - Tasks: Breakdown of the qualifications for possible tasks for Date 3.Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the book details or cover - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.
C is for ??? - ???
To be revealed when the date begins.
C is for Center Field - Read a sports romance.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be a sports romance. Saying 'the hero is a runner' or 'MC is an athlete' doesn't qualify the book. Using 'title states that hero is a football player' or 'tagged sports by 7 people' does qualify the book. Books can to be tagged/shelved as either the generic 'sports' or the more specific sport such as 'football' or 'hockey' as examples to qualify. Qualifications can come from the title, precis, tags or lists.
C is for Cerulean - Read a book that has a primarily blue cover.
To qualify, the cover needs to be primarily blue. Include the qualifying cover in your completion post. If using TinEye (I have a love/hate relationship with that site), it needs to be over 50% blue and make sure you are including the background. If in doubt, please ask.
C is for Chance - Read a book that is written by a new to you author.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be written by a new to you author. Please include as your qualifier a link to your shelves, ideally searched for the chosen author. You may have more books by the author on your shelves, but only the one selected for this task can be marked as read or rated. The book read for this task must be on your shelves! You may only use each new to you author once, after that they are no longer new to you. For this task, I will need to be able to see your shelves. If your profile is private, you will either need to open it for the duration of this task or friend me. If I am am unable to verify your books, they will not count!
So, so excited for next week. I love sports books (hate sports, but love sports books). Is there an alternative to TinEye for checking color? TIA.

Thought of you when I saw this date's choices😂 Read all of the hockey books! Hope you are staying cool and having a great summer.

Thanks, Maggie! I’m doing well. I hope things have evened out for you.
"If using TinEye (I have a love/hate relationship with that site), it needs to be over 50% blue and make sure you are including the background. If in doubt, please ask." I have heard of TinEye but what exactly is it and how do I use it?
Kirsten wrote: "So, so excited for next week. I love sports books (hate sports, but love sports books). Is there an alternative to TinEye for checking color? TIA."
Not that I am aware of. Honestly, what I do is look at a cover and if it is mostly whatever color I am looking for - it works. If it is iffy, I use TinEye. I do not use the color names that TinEye uses though. I mostly use the site to add up the percentages of the different shades of the color I am looking for to see if it is over 50%.
Would 'professional rodeo cowboy' count for sports romance? The book isnt tagged sports, just has that in the precis.
For new to me author - if there are two authors listed on GR both would need to be new to me for the book to qualify - correct? For example I couldn't use this book as Ali Parker is a new to me author, however Weston Parker is not.
Courtney wrote: "Would 'professional rodeo cowboy' count for sports romance? The book isnt tagged sports, just has that in the precis."Yes, that would work.

Only one author needs to be new to you to work for Chance. But I will search for both authors on your shelf.
I believe I got all the team threads checked. Things were a little crazy tonight. Everything looked good or has been corrected except for one new completion from this evening. Good job everyone!
Hi, MKat—our captain Lisa is out of town/off the online until early tomorrow am. I know it’s past 3 EST, but my teammates and I just noticed that she missed a fair few posts. Imma add them to the spreadsheet now, in case there’s a loophole.
Reposting in our team thread, too.

C is for Caballero - Read a western romance or a book featuring cowboys.
To qualify for this task, the book's title, précis, tags or list will need to indicate that the book is about or includes a cowboy, is set on a farm or ranch or the equivalent based on where the book is set. Hello Kat. I don’t think you saw my question in our team discussion but as we read 25 books total for the team date 2 : It should be 3 roses for the serial date ?Thanks 😉
