Hey non-fiction reader's!! What do you like to read about? I just finished a memoir called "Eva's Story." Eva was Anne Frank's neighbor and one month older than her. She also lived in hiding and was discovered, she was in the same concentration camp as Anne, but she survived. Eva's book is beautifully written, it is a haunting true story of the horrors of the holocaust.

The "Diary of Anne Frank" was Anne's journal from when she was in hiding, she then died in the concentration camp. The book I read was "Eva's Story"...a girl the same age..and Anne's neighbor (who also knew Anne). "Eva's Story" was another holocaust story that gives us a glimpse at the concentration camp Anne died in.

Hey animal lovers, check out this page on Goodreads:
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
looks like some good non-fiction animal books.
Also, one of my all-time favorite book that features animals, "Life of Pi"---you may have seen the movie, the book is really good too

message 16: by Maritza (new)

Maritza | 10 comments Sometimes not really, but most of them are really good. You could always learn something new & cool. You can read about people life & animals. There are a lot of many non- fiction books about cultures, people, languages, & more. Sometimes fictional books confuse me with non fiction because once I read this book called " B negative " I think & really loved if this high school couple had sexual relationships & one time the girl ended up pregnant. The guy new the condom broke but he didn't want to say anything & she was so mad at him and didn't talk to him so then they thought of giving away the baby but the father didn't want to. He had positive & negative thoughts of their baby. It wasn't non-fiction but it seemed so real that it was because you can visual basically every single thing in the book. I don't remember the last non- fiction book I've read. But I'm 100% sure I read tons of non- fiction books.!!

message 24: by Ericka (new)

Ericka (vang_ericka) | 12 comments Depending on the genres within nonfiction, I absolutely enjoy reading:

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
(It's been a long time since I read this book. I mean, i read it during high school for a human relation class. I felt like Moorie was like a granddad to me even though we're unrelated. Mitch Albom wasn't a writer until after his meeting encounter with Moorie. Great times)

Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
(I'm not really reading this book, but I'm listening to the audio. The audio has someone reading the book while I'm listening to it. Does that count?)

I like any (fiction and nonfiction) books that have a life moral message. It makes my time reading more valuable and worthwhile. I really enjoy reading memoirs especially when the narrator describe in detail about the life situation where-ever the character is at. I feel sucked into the situation as if I'm there with them. Those are novels though. I like to read the straight up research analysis and literature reviews (college stuff) too.

What about the memoir? We have to remember that memoir's are non-fiction. I love reading about someones life experience, their struggles and thoughts. Here is a short list of some of my favorites:
The Glass Castle
Night
Angela's Ashes
Breaking Night
The Splendid Things we planned

What other memoirs do you guys like?

message 33: by Calvin (new)

Calvin Chang | 5 comments My previous nonfiction book I read was a biography about two twins name Tiki & Ronda Barber who played in the NFL. Tiki played RB for the New York Giants, and Ronda Played CB for the Tampa Bay Buccurnars. My favorite part in the book was when Tiki & Ronda stayed that "The hardest part in are life was when we got split up. Because as we were younger we we're like best friend, and we always had each other back. but when it came to the draft. it was the hardest thing in are life. losing each other" I loved this part.

message 34: by GDsuperpilot (new)

GDsuperpilot | 15 comments I do like mystery books too. But sometimes it's kind of boring for me because some mystery books are not that interesting. And most interesting parts are in that middle or at the end of the book.
