In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids, for their own safety.

But in a society where contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, safety isn’t a primary concern.

On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied ‘droid — a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as “Murderbot.” Scornful of humans, all it really wants is to be left alone long enough to figure out who it is.

But when a neighboring mission goes dark, it's up to the scientists and their Murderbot to get to the truth.

And now the crew is trying to figure out if the murderbot is on their side. And they are just as amused as I am that the murderbot likes to watch serials.

So far, I'm really enjoying this book! It's a very quick read and I'm enjoying the quirky way the murderbot thinks. I'm expecting much more human-like behavior as the plot progresses!

Oh my! This book is great!

(view spoiler)[Such an exciting series of events. We've learned that the "Murderbot" isn't a murderbot after all, that's just what it calls itself in a self-deprecating way... further proving is "humanity".

Just like Murderbot, I'm not a fan of Gurathin so far, and I am expecting traitorous events to come. I really hope I'm proved wrong.

I like that these people are treating Murderbot as of it's a real person, with rights and feelings. I wonder if it has more feelings than other bots, because of the hacked governor module or because of the entertainment feeds it's watched...

Wow! That was a great read! I'm loving the ending!

On very curious why they are having all these issues, and if it has to do with Murderbot hacking their system. Also very curious about why Murderbot hacked their system and what the plan is here. Okay well I listened to all of on the weekend but forgot to stop and take notes and returned it so can't comment properly. I won't claim the buddy reads points for that one but I did really enjoy it. I was so happy to see Dr. Mensah and the team again.
