Week 6 -NEST and EXPLORE WeekWeek 6 Book 1 Completion - Letter T (WoTW - NEST)
Book: Float Plan
Author: Trish Doller
Date read: 17/07/2022
Task:Letter T
How it fits:Author's first name starts with T
Review:
I had such high hopes for this one, it had been on my tbr since I first saw the cover and fell in love with it but all the church and monastery visits plus religious talk ruined another book for me. I still am in love with the basic plot of the book but the execution for me was really poor and i feel very disappointed atm. I would have absolutely loved this one if not for those few references and also Keanse should have been a little less....idk intrusive? It was her trip but the way he kept whining about do we have to do this or that just left me plain sour.

Book: The Wish
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Date read: 19/07/2022
Task:Letter N
How it fits:Author's first name starts with N
Review:
The Wish by Nicholas Sparks is a story of love and sacrifice and just a beautiful journey altogether.
I loved everything about this book, how it was penned out in two different timelines, the storytelling arc and the characters themselves, I couldn't help but fall in love with it all.
The one thing I liked the most is how it did not have a HEA in the general sense but it still left me with a sense of completeness and satisfaction, I could not think of an alternate ending that I would have loved more.
Teenage romance makes we wary these days but it was so...magical and mature at right times in this book, I absolutely devoured it.

WEEK 6 - Letter E (NEST and EXPLORE Week)Book: Ice Blue
Author: Emma Jameson
Date read: 7/20/2022
Task: Letter E
How it fits: Author's first name starts with E
What made this ebook such a pleasure was not the murder or even the Police procedure, but the rather wonderful cast of characters that the author, Emma Jameson, has created to populate her world. One of the MCs is Anthony Hetheridge, ninth Baron of Wellegrave, Chief Superintendent for New Scotland Yard, who never married, has no children, no pets, no hobbies, and not even an interesting vice. He is about to turn sixty.
The other is Detective Sergeant Kate Wakefield — beautiful, willful, and nearly half his age. When Hetheridge saves the outspoken, young detective from getting fired, siding with her against Scotland Yard's powerful male hierarchy, his elegantly balanced world spins out of control. Summoned to London's fashionable Belgravia District to investigate the brutal murder of a financier, Hetheridge must catch the killer while coping with his growing attraction to Kate, the reappearance of an old flame, and the secret that emerges from his own past.
Kate, on the other hand, must cope with an impaired nephew, a teen-age brother abandoned by their mother due to drug use, an insidious feeling her live-in boyfriend has deserted her, and a suspicion that she may be pregnant.
This was the first book in the series and I enjoyed it immensely. I am sure I will be following Kate and Tony further.

Date Read 7.21.2022
Letter A

Review
A well-crafted plot featuring an unlikely partnership between a jaded FBI agent and a young art historian. Unlike most mysteries where there is a final reveal, this one functions more like an adventure.
FBI Special Agent Daniel Walker is known for his ability to hunt killers, his street-smarts, and being rough around the edges. He has been singled out from the Behavioral Analysis Unit and assigned to the FBI’s new Antiquities unit. This unit was formed to hunt down priceless relics in the global world of antiquities, and while the subject matter is interesting, Daniel feels that this is a demotion.
Remi Laurent is a brilliant history professor at Georgetown, and is the world’s leading expert on obscure historic artifacts. Surprised when the FBI asks for her aid in apprehending a killer, she finds herself reluctantly partnered with this rude American FBI agent.
A priceless, historic painting, stolen from a museum in Washington, D.C., ends up in the home of a multi-millionaire where his dead body is found along with it. Knowing he'll need help with the “historic painting” side of the case, Daniel asks for Remi’s help. Soon another wealthy art collector is murdered, this time in Paris, and his painting is stolen. Remi is able to determine that the two stolen paintings are part of a four -painting set from the 17th century. When a third murder and stolen painting occur in Florence, tensions increase to find and protect the owner of the fourth painting. Together, Daniel and Remi need to visit the scene of the first murder, travel to Paris and Florence, decode the message in the stolen paintings, and stop the killer before he strikes again.

Review:
The mystery of this book was okayish but what made my day was the setting, I'd give anything to be able to work in a library and be surrounded by books all day. I was slightly put off by the two love interests for main character because I just dont generally like romances in mysteries and Suzanne was honestly a bit irritating, IDC if she was doing what she thought was best for Lucille, she was still okay with meddling in her adult daughter's dating life which is just bleh.

Wow! We are really rolling along this week. Went to my high school reunion this past weekend and had a great time. Paying the penalty now as 16 people so far that I know about have come down with Covid. So I am on Covid watch for the next several days. Expect to get a lot of reading done. Need some help, Kira?
Yesss!!! This week's words were pretty easy to find tbh! Owwwww I hope you stay covid free!!!!! And get lots of reading done as well lol! I would not be able to read much on weekends now probably because I am planning to spend more time with my partner so it would be great if you could manage 2 letters a week!

Lanelle - where is this rule? I looked for it last time and could not find a rule about word endings.
Ok, Kira, I'll take 2 letters this week. That said, I'd like H and E. Could you refresh me on the extra bonus word? Do I need to find it along with the other two in the same book?
Hi Jeanne! Thanks for handling two letters this week, I'll wait for Abir to choose from O and M. As for this week's words, yes I do believe we have to find all 3 words in a single book, that would be 3 words each for you in the 2 books you read.
Here is the link to the comment stating acceptable modification to words Jeanne!

Book Lose Your Breath
Author D.K. Hood
Date Read 7.27.2022
Letter H
How it fits Author's last name begins with "H"
Review
Lose Your Breath is the prequel to D.K. Hood's Detective Dave Kane and Jenna Alton series. It is Dave Kane's backstory describing how and why he ended up in the Secret Service and in Black Rock Falls. This novella is full of action, suspense and heartbreaking romance.
As a former special force’s sniper, Kane, the operative known as Ninety-Eight H, worked his way up the ladder to become a protector of POTUS and part of the investigative side of the Secret Service. Six years previously he had been on a mission in Syria when his handler Shane Wolfe, known as Terabyte, had diverted him to another mission altogether.
Annie Parkes, the daughter of prominent US General Parkes, had been kidnapped outside the US Embassy in Jerusalem, Israel, where she worked, by a man who pressed a gun against her head and told her to drive.
Taken to Syria by militants, she faced being sold into human trafficking if she could not be located and rescued. It's a harrowing journey once Kane locates where she is being held. The two of them dodge bullets, hide in abandoned buildings, and hope and pray the friendlies don't find and report them.
At its heart, it's an action thriller with a love story at its center, and although less than 200 pages in length, it packs a powerful punch. It's captivating and emotional, but it is also fraught with danger as they try to escape Israel into Turkey unnoticed. I had a hard time putting it down and read it in one sitting.

Book: Unexpected Night
Author: Elizabeth Daly
Date Read: 7.29.2022
Letter: E
How it fits: Author's first name begins with "E"
Review:
Unexpected Night is the first novel by author Elizabeth Daly, a woman who reportedly was Agatha Christie’s favorite American mystery writer. I found it rather dated as it was written in 1939. The novel introduces her series detective, Henry Gamadge, handwriting and rare book expert—and gentleman sleuth.
The novel opens without Gamadge, but with the Cowden family traveling in the fog trying to get to their destination. The son in the family, Amberley, will turn 21 that night and suffers from a life-threatening heart condition. He is the heir to a large sum of money that will go to distant relatives in France if he dies before his 21st birthday. We are introduced to Gamadge that evening when the Cowden’s meet him and the Barclay family at a resort.
Gamadge left New York for a bit of vacation on the coast of Maine. He is expecting some leisurely rounds of golf, good food, a cocktail or two, bridge, and maybe some light reading before bed. The discovery of young Amberly Cowden's body at the base of a cliff, as well as the strange events apparently related to the impoverished acting troupe at the Cove, disrupt Gamage's restful golf retreat.
This is a strange case involving a seemingly natural death, a large inheritance, a mysterious nighttime rendezvous, and a troupe of summer stock actors who start dying off.
Although there are some 16 Gamage mysteries, I probably won't be in a hurry to get to the next one.

Book: The Man Who Died Twice
Author: Richard Osman
Date read: 31/07/2022
Task:Letter M
How it fits: Title starts with M
Review: The Man who Died Twice is the second book in Thursday Murder Club and quite honestly, it is far better than the first one. The characters are more likeable and the mystery would pull you in right from the start. The brilliant twists and turns kept me guessing who the killer was throughout the book and the way all the main characters solve every puzzle and come up with intricate plans blew my mind. Don't let the first book dissaude you, this is definitely worth picking up and I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next book because the ending left me on a cliffhanger and I want to know more about what happens in these characters' lives in the future.
