SOLVED. Children's Picture book about a nosey animal with big ears who gossips about all the other animals which makes them all really angry. [s]

okay so i read this LONG ago, back in elementary school so around 2003-2007. It's about an animal, I thought it was a donkey or maybe an elephant, now I'm not sure. The animal has big ears and can hear really well, which ends up being a problem because this animal listens to the conversations of the other animals and they eventually get really upset and by the end of the story, the nosey animal either stops listening in on other conversations and either picks up a new bad habit (like talking too much?) OR another animal comes along and starts being really nosey with big ears. sorry if that's too vague, but that's all I can remember

Armadillo Tattletale by Helen Ketteman, maybe? It's a folktale explaining why the armadillo has small ears. According to the story, Armadillo originally had big ears, but it used them for eavesdropping so much that Alligator bit them off!
