This is the Pre-Read thread for the July 2022 Classics selection. This month we will be reading A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf.

Please note that this is a SPOILER FREE discussion.

Who's planning to join in on this read? Why did you choose this classic book? Any expectations?

Shaneka Knight | 109 comments Hello Renata :) There is the potentiality for me to also read along this month! That said I progressed 0% through my last book with this group.

I've begun this a few times and gotten bored! Let's see if I could complete this time around!

Andi | 367 comments I should get to it this weekend. It has been on my list.

Elle | 75 comments I am looking forwards to reading this since a few of my favorite booktubers have recommended this. Also, I finished Mrs. Dalloway for the calendar reading challenge and fell in love with Woolf's writing. Can't wait to read this!

Zainab Al Lawati (zainaballawati) | 224 comments I've never heard of this book before, but it interested me!
Its small size is another big motivator, I'll probably join in :)

Kayla | 4 comments I’ve been a member of this group for quite awhile, but have yet to participate in a read! I’m going to commit to this one.

njhpiper I read Digital Minimalism and Cal Newport would not shut up about this book. So I am really intrigued.

Quinty (Taylor's Version) (queenq) | 278 comments I hadn't heard from this book before, but it interested me, so I bought it. I bought a copy that was only €3 and also had The Voyage Out, so I guess I will read that too :) Curious as to if I will like it, as I don't usually like essays

Elizabeth (elizabethlk) | 10 comments I've had a copy just sitting on my shelf for ages waiting to be read, so I'm excited to finally have a push to actually get to it.

I'll be chiming in on this one too. I expect the prose to be beautiful, as Virginia Woolf is known for her eloquence. She said that "books are the mirrors of the soul". Quite right.

message 13: by Wobbley (new)

Wobbley | 207 comments I'll give this one a try. I quite liked To The Lighthouse, but found her stream of consciousness style got too over the top in Mrs. Dalloway, so I'm curious how I'll like this one.

message 14: by kate (new)

kate I think I’m going to join this one since one of my bucket list goals is to read all of the classics. I don’t really know what to expect, but I look forward to reading it all the same!
