We learn what happened to cause Jerry to sour on FBI profiling. Did that help you understand his point of view? Could or should he have handled Lucy differently?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2971 comments I understood Jerry better after learning about his previous experience with the FBI. Jerry just wanted to ignore Lucy as much as he possibly could, but she proved to be a willing and sharing partner. She proved herself an asset to him and he had to change his opinion of her.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I understand Jerry's frustration with the FBI, but he would not give Lucy the benefit of the doubt regardless of how she proved herself. Jerry was wrong. His stubbornness could have prolonged finding the murderer.

I can't see how Lucy could have done anything differently.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I understand why Jerry didn't want anything to do with the FBI and profiling after what happened previously. Except for putting up roadblocks to the profiling, I think he treated Lucy fine and liked how she conducted herself in the investigation.

Oh, this explained everything to me! It wasn’t about profiling or the Feds…it was his guilt about losing those two boys. He lashed out at every fed and profiling but underneath was deep sorrow, regret and guilt. It shifted my whole perspective about him. It also seemed to be cathartic for him to actually talk it out with Lucy. Before her, he didn’t have anyone to talk to about it, thus his meltdown for a few weeks, emerging from it with a deep mistrust of all things federal and psychology, including profiling.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Good point Jonetta. I didn't think about how talking through his anger with Lucy helped him.

Thanks, Sharon. He just seemed lighter after that conversation.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2971 comments I missed that, but Jerry did seem more willing to consider the profile and Lucy's opinion after that

Can you imagine having something like that happening to you and you don’t even have your colleagues to vent with? It just festered.
