I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Jennifer Fraser - an award-winning educator and best-selling author with a PhD in Comparative Literature.
I'm excited to share with you my new book The Bullied Brain. For those interested in mental health or suffering from a MH challenge, I'm hoping my book helps. The key is the subtitle: "Heal Your Scars and Restore Your Health." Due to a personal crisis with abuse, I did a deep dive into the brain science research on whether or not all forms of bullying and abuse harm brains (yes they do) and then I wanted to find out if we could repair the damage done (yes we can). The book is full of action steps grounded in evidence-based practices to get your power and health back. I would appreciate reviews if you like the book and have time.
We rarely hear about our brains even in discussions about mental health and what's vital to remember is that our brains are the very centre of our mental health. And what's exciting is that our brains are highly adept at healing, but oftentimes we don't know what the scientists have discovered about brain repair post-bullying or abuse. That's what I discuss in the book. My goal is to bring the brain out of the lab and put brain knowledge into the hands of those who need it.
Internationally renowned neuroscientist Dr. Michael Merzenich writes the foreword to The Bullied Brain and he says it's "scientifically the most thorough treatment of the subject on planet earth."
What's important to remember is that the brain acts like a muscle. You can strengthen your desired neural networks by going daily to the "brain gym." No one can tell you what your potential is because your brain health is based on "neuroplasticity," namely your brain's ability to change and adapt and be shaped by what you practice. The way brains change and get stronger can be documented on brain scans.
I hope this book ushers readers out of the outdated bullying and abuse framework and brings them into a new "neuro-paradigm" - a framework constructed on knowledge of our miraculous brains.
