I first read this book for a book report in the early to mid 2010's in Australia. The story follows a teenage boy getting suspended for bringing a gun to school and him and his divorced dad going on a hunting trip, where they meet a war veteran and he tells the hunting party stories about is time in the war where he killed an enemy soldier. The cover of the book shows the main character looking at his dad (or one of the hunting party members) getting charged at by a feral pig/wild boar.
