There is one book from that time period, Black Beadle (1939) that takes on anti-Semitism in a big way. Unfortunately the actual story is one of those where you go "where did that come from" when all is revealed. Not my favorite book by Lorac but I did think the timing was interesting, given the year and what was starting to happen in Nazi Germany.

One of the things Martin Edwards discussed in The Golden Age of Murder was who, among the Detection Club members, were among the first to come out against the fascists. And there were a few. Unfortunately, most of the well known names were not among them.
