So I just finished it and.. wegfhebglwvi yblw\eutyba! My brain just exploded, I understand now why there was so much hype on booktube. If anyone even remotely liked the Percy Jackson series they need to read this series because I think this trumps that series. That ending though, I don't even know what to think!
My children like The Red Pyramid series that he has written also. It is very much like Percy Jackson., but with Egyptian gods instead.
Is it? I never read it, I knew it existed but the description I read sounded similar but not really the same, maybe I'll take another look at it.
I love this series! Reading House of Hades for My Favorite Author week. The Kane Chronicles are good. There are also a couple of crossover short stories between the two series. A norse god series is beginning next fall.
Ooooh! That could be really interesting! Katie, I'm reading it right now, I've been marathoning them because I'm addicted. haha! So far The Mark of Athena has been my favourite though.
I loved the Son of Neptune. I enjoyed watching Percy interacting with his Roman counterparts. I loved Octavian, "the teddy bear murderer." :)
Octavian is definitely a character, where the heck Riordan came up with him, I'm not sure, but I have a feeling he's going to be like the Roman Luke but I could totally be wrong.
I never thought Octavian that way. I guess I can see it. But maybe Riordan needed a more minor adversary at camp for added tension or something.
He and Luke both definitely have anger issues, but I don't think that Octavian hates his "father" like Luke hated his. In that way they are different. I think Octavian loves the world of Camp Jupiter and the power he has there, where Luke just wanted it all destroyed. But they are both a definite enemy to Percy.
Ahaha my bad, I should have explained that more. I didn't mean in the sense of hating his father and the gods. More like make Percy and Friends' lives living hell. I sense he's one who will get what he wants at all cost.Zara, I definitely can understand that, there had to be someone to stir up things otherwise it would be boring.
True! He and Luke should have teamed up, started an "I Hate Percy Jackson" club. But, for some reason Octavian is a character you like to hate, where Luke, I mostly felt sorry for him.
Oh, the "teddy bear murderer" comment came from Octavian's ritual of gutting stuffed animals for telling the future. Percy called him that. :)

Is anyone else reading this series for the challenge? I think I might be loving this more than the Percy Jackson series, it's definitely the best thing I've read in a LONG time. I should be done this one today and I'll update with my full thoughts by then!
PS. Can anyone recommend other series similar to this sort of thing (other than the Percy Jackson series)?
